Now that I am in my senior years, I know the traumatic impact it has had on my life. When the State of Israel was declared and international acknowledged, my mother told me 'today there is a garden named Israel where all Jews can be safe and not be bullied', and that how it should be. Although, the nazi-occupation of Norway was over in June 1945, Jews, however very few, were still harassed and even a child like me by other children. These children did not 'think' such 'ugly' words and behaviors by themselves. It came from there parents or other adults. |
