Big White Ski Resort, one hour north-east of Kolowna, BC, has dicided to close the Gem Lake Express down as well as the west side slops due to weather, this is almost more then 50% of the mountain. Lately it has been cold and has been snowing commonly. These slops now have a great base and Big White has decided to close this chair for the rest of the season as well as these slops. Big White has also not issued a descent in lift ticket prices, meaning they are still full price!
My family and I go to Big White once every year. We rent a condominion for one week, lift tickets, plane tickets, ski rentals, helmets, making our family total $3,000 and we get to use only half the mountain? We do not think this is right, I'm sure we are not the only ones.
A mountain in Vancouver has just openned and people can go down it from its peak. This is in Vancouver, by the ocean, and its not even half the elevation as Big White.
My guess is that they have laid off half thier staff, due to weather, so now there not even bothering to re-hire. The staff laid off are probably working for the mountain west of Vancouver. Like, hello, do you think we're idiots? Either lower the list ticket prices or open the hill. If we get hurt, it's not our fault. We think that you have got your point throught that the west side is dangerous, let us be, and use that side. If you think we are hurting the mountain, I really don't know how we could, because it has a base of 202cm of snow and raising!
Help re-open the Gem Lake Express and almost more then 50% of the mountain. All you need to do is sign this petition. Thanks, and have a great day! |
