In the 19th century, Dr. Semmelweis was scorned, ridiculed and disgraced for suggesting that women died of peuperal fever because the delivering doctor - often straight from treating open wounds etc. - had not washed his hands.........
Dr. Wakefield may yet be shown not to be 100% correct, but he spoke from conviction on behalf of those struck by Autism. He should NOT suffer the same fate as Semmelweis.
Those who have not encountered Autism may scorn, but those who have are grateful for, if nothing else, the publicity and increased understanding he has enabled.

How can supposed 'men of science' not use their considerable brains to investigate this? Because of the power of the pharmaceutical industry perhaps? Good luck with this. | 4744 | Carol Shepherd | I fully understand and agree. I had a daughter 1977 she was bright and clever until she was given 2 of the 3 shots (without measles) We were lucky to have a open minded GP. The result was at 5 years old (just after receiving the vaccines) she became all the things mentioned in the report attached. I took her to Dr Kieth Eaton (now retired) and we sorted her diet, vitamins, gut problems etc. She went from a hyperactive dyslexic to passing 10 GCSEs (A to C including B in Latin) 5 A levels (A to C) 2:1 Degree in Law with Honours, Bar Exams (call 2000) Masters in Law (human rights) from London School of Economics 2005. She is living proof that you are correct with this information. It is 25 years since this happened to her and at that time I stood alone with very little information and no internet, just the gut feel (pardon the pun) that this was not right, and she was not slow or dumb. I think we have proved that. She still has to watch her diet, she was born with a Dairy allergy, and is still sensitive to wheat and sugar, needs lots of exercise but works in Central London as a Lawyer.
