LindacortesFLUSwhy can't they have the same rights as everyone else? I would think the children would prefer having a loving home vs a home were the parents have a certain sexual belief.

RichardBerg Jr.NCUSI am a 24 young GWM that has had testicular cancer and that has prevented me from having kids. I feel that I as well as others, have been stripped that chance to have our own children and feel that we should have that right to adopt a child. As long as we have met the requierment that are needed. I think that these states should consider this and to reminde you that Florida has a very high gay, lesbian and bisexual population that suports the state in all ways.

StevenVidlundMIUSgay people don't want special rights, they just want equality.
YvonneDuffFLUSGay and Lesbian parents are the most loving parents that a child could have.
shawnmirmanNCUSbetter to have loving parents, than no parents.
p.j.bishopCAUSIronically, children raised in the home of gay parents are taught not to be prejudiced against anyone. America needs to stop using the bible as a shield to protect their ignorance and fear of the unknown. Get the facts. Gay and lesbian parents adopt because they "want" to have children and raise them in a nurturing and free thinking environment. Homophobic right wing thinking extremists want to put their children into boxes and force many teens to contemplate or commit suicide because they are not accepted for being gay. We live in such a hypocritic puritanical society. Get the real facts, look in the mirror, and treat decent people like they should be treated.
BillReedILUSI'm a 14-year-old bisexual male and I care deeply about the GLBT community. Though I am a minor, I still believe that I should be able to have a say in adoptive rights. I highly support the community members that wish to adopt, and wish for my voice to be heard as well as adults.
amandabenningerMIUSI'm a lesbian and i fell that i should have the right to adopt a child if i want studies show that most children from same sex parents actually have a better chance of being straight than those raised in a heterosexual home

MichaelChickMAUSWhile we engage in this outrageous "pissing contest", trying to determine the "correct" way to define a parent, thousands on children sit...alone...sad...waiting for someone to care for and love them. We've totally lost our focus and they, parentless children, are paying the price. What a shame. What a disgrace. These outdated and unconstitutional laws must be eliminated. The we can all get on with the really important issue: making a positive difference in the life of a child.

EldaHallOHUSI find this topic rather ironic because their are so many heterosexual couple that completely destroy the lives of their children and no one says anything about that. Yet just because of a slight difference from the norm, people who are caring, loving, and able to provide a stable homelife are denied a child. while children sit in overcrowded foster homes and other government agencies desperately wanting someone to want them.
MishalinyaYahrSCUS My Mother is gay and has been since I was 3 years old.I think children with gay parents are more open minded and are in a position to make a more educated opinion on thier own sexuality. I am a striaght mother of 4. But I am striaght because of choice not because I Someone told me that being gay was wrong.

BrandiZorzyCTUSI think that where love exists is where a family starts. It's better for a child to be raised in a love filled homosexual environment than a cold heterosexual environment. It's equal for the child if they are both filled with love to begin with. The only way we can end this discrimination is to stifle it in the youngest generation, and that would mean no discriminitory laws that this new generation has to grow up under.

NaomiJimenezPAUSMarriage and children are two of life’s most basic pleasures. The decision to marry and to have children is a personal decision, a decision not to be made by the government, but by two committed individuals in a loving relationship. The gender or sexual orientation of those two individuals is no excuse to deny these fundamental human rights. The time has come rid this country of all its double standards; time to incorporate sexual orientation into the “melting pot” of the “American family.”
