There is a loophole in Canada's system of government that poses a danger to Canada's democracy.
The Governor General is the non-partisan representative of Canada's people and defender of Canada's Constitution. If the Prime Minister tries to do something unconstitutional, the Governor General alone has the power to dismiss him and call a new election.
However, there is nothing in our Constitution to prevent the Prime Minister from firing the Governor General and replacing her with a corrupt ally at any time.
It would be better if someone other than the Prime Minister chooses the Governor General.
The Senate is the most suitable body for this task, for multiple reasons: Because the Prime Minister has limited influence over the Senate; Because the Senate represents the regions of Canada equally (the West, Ontario, Quebec, and the Maritimes), as the Governor General must also do; Because the Senate is the more dignified chamber of Parliament.
We, the undersigned, call upon all Canadian legislators, provincial and federal, to support an amendment to the Canadian Constitution that lets the Senate, not the Prime Minister, choose the Governor General.

Il éxiste un point faible dans le système de gouvernment du Canada, et il est un danger pour la démocratie du Canada.
La Gouverneure Générale est la représentante non partisane du peuple du Canada et la défenseure de la Constitution du Canada. Si le Premier Ministre essaie de faire quelquechose inconstitutionel, seulement la Gouverneure Générale a la puissance à lui renvoyer et à commencer une nouvelle élection.
Cependant, la Constitution permis au Premier Ministre de renvoyer la Gouverneure Générale et la remplacer avec un allié corrompu en tout temps.
Il vaudrait mieux que une autre personne choisisse le Gouverneur Général/la Gouverneure Générale.
Pour plusieurs raisons, le Sénat est le organisme le plus compétent pour la tâche: Parce que l'influence du Premier Ministre sur le Sénat est limité; Parce que le Sénat représente les divisions du Canada également (l'Ouest, l'Ontario, le Québec, et les Maritimes), aussi la Gouverneure Générale; Parce que le Sénat est la Chambre plus digne du parlement.
Nous, les sous-signés, demandons que tous les legislateurs canadiens, provincials et fédérals, soutenir une modification de la Constitution du Canada pour laisser le Sénat choisir le Gouverneur Général ou la Gouverneure Générale.
