Derek Freeborn
Gillian WoodPlease catch up with the majority of the country and have free swimming for under 16s and over 60s. This will help to tackle child obesity and keep the elderly fit and healthy which will reduce the burden on the health/education systems and society in general. Invest in the future.
AnonymousSwimming for older people, especially when it is free keeps them even healthier, wealthier and wiser than they already are. An excellent idea!

Malcolm BrownleeI live on the Retford Road at Woodhouse Mill one side of the road is in Rotherham the other side is in Sheffield, on the Rotherham side a man sixty earns £500 per week gets free swimming the Sheffield side a man sixty five on basic pension pays full price for his swimming is that fair.

carol oladipoI have lived in Sheffield for over 40 years and paid my ever-increasing rates for all that time. It is very very upsetting to find that this so-called caring city is withholding free swimming and thus contributing to the poor health prospects for pensioners , when those in many other regions are benefitting . If this is a government initiative it should not be possible for any council to choose not to comply. This is absolutely deplorable. A scheme which will no doubt reduce health costs for senior citizens must surely be of social benefit. Surely if surrounding South Yorkshire areas are implementing the government initiative Sheffield can not defend its denial of our rights.

beryl pattenIn these days of diminishing exercise and expanding waistlines any effort should be made to encourage all to exercise and to swim. Proficiency in swimming also saves lives. The Victorians had it right - hence the world class public baths they built in every town across the land.

Maureen BarryIt really is a disgrace that the Liberal Democrats are failing to deliver the free swimming lessons opportunity for the Sheffield community. Revisit this decision and quickly!

AnonymousAs a nation we need to get fitter. Having been made redundant and suffering from cancer recently, swimming is a good way to keep fit for me, but sadly I have no job to pay the entrance fees!!
