Anonymous | Anonymous | | | Willie is a one of a kind gentleman who know how to play baseball. He played because playing was his love. No other Cardinal in history had the dedication and humbleness as Willie. His number needs to be retired. Hasn't anyone with any sort of power realized that yet?

Gregg | Niemuth | CA | US | Was there ever a more popular Cardinal? (Maybe Ozzie!) Willie had unbelievable speed. Center field Busch Stadium was a wasted airport and Willie still ran down everything! He only had to put the ball in play and he could beat out grounders to second. He and Ozzie carried the 80's Cardinals.

Donna | Spencer | OR | US |
Linda | Gomes | CA | US |
Stephen | Moore | MO | US | Willie McGee is the best outfielder the Cardinals had. Finishing his career here after a stint with other teams, he came home to the people that loved him, and respected his efforts. This town needs to have his number retired. No one should wear the 51 ever. Out of respect for this player that put his heart and soul into the team, and gained the love of fans of all generations, this is a man that bridged the gap of fans of all past and present. I would boycott the Cardinals if they didn't retire his number. Willie is the nicest man in the world, and he is the greatest centerfielder in the Cardinal orginization. He scaled walls that were 12ft high not 8. His number should hang in front of centerfield so generations later may remember one of the last greats to grace Busch Stadium's field.
Anonymous | Anonymous | | US | Go Willie Go
