AnonymousDiscrimination still exists in the states. I was oblivious until recently, and only after experiencing it first hand in the work place. Most of the racial prejudices are subtle where unfair treatment is shown in attitudes rather than disciplinary actions. Neither is acceptable. Asians have always played the role of the polite, reserved and non-confrontational minority, which allowed the rest of America to view us as weak push-overs. Although not all, but some people certainly do take advantage of our cultural background, upbringing, and virtue of being good subordinates. It is time for us to stand up for ourselves, firm and assertively through legal channels. Ms. Cheng shall have our full support in obtaining the equality and justice that she rightfully deserves.
Joanne BrooksI worked with Gloria and found her a good and honest teacher, who always had her students come first. J. Brooks
CAROL E GIBSONI worked with Mrs. Cheng in the Fulton County schools, and found her to be professional, kind, obedient and a joy to those children who were new to this country. Since she had gone through much of the same things they were experiencing, she knew just how to help them get into the swim of things. They loved her as much as she loved them and it was demonstrated daily in her classes. I have found her to be more than a teacher. She is a true friend to those who have needed her expertise. Thank you.
Richard PellegrinoHonorable School Board Members: Please do everything in your power to enable this wonderful public servant and teacher to continue serving our nation's children and their parents.

Robin SohOur country needs good teachers and educators. Ms. Gloria Cheng has been an exemplary professional career of 32 years with a spotless record and numerous local and international awards recognizing her work. We sincerely pray that members of the Fulton County Board of Education will hear her plea in a fair and just manner. Please put the politics aside for the sake of our children education. Thank you and may God bless you.
Mandy LinI am glad to see that OCA Georgia Chapter is taking action in supporting of members of the community fighting for civil rights and against employment discrimination or mistreatment. I hope other OCA organizations can be the same - take real action rather than talking the OCA mission mission statement.
Sharon FlickerGloria Cheng was an ESOL teacher in Fulton County for many years before I started teaching. Since I came to Fulton County as an ESOL teacher over 10 years ago, Gloria Cheng has been a huge help to me. During one of my first few years of teaching ESOL at the elementary school level, my principal allowed me as well as another ESOL teacher who I worked with to go and observe ESOL teachers at other elementary schools. At the time, Gloria was teaching at High Point ES and her principal of High Point recommended Gloria Cheng as one of the teachers who we should observe. During the past 10 years I've known Gloria, I have been very impressed by her dedication to her students. Throughout the time I've known Gloria, she has given me excellent ideas and suggestions in my ESOL teaching career. I feel Gloria is a teacher who really cares about her students and she is a teacher who does whatever it takes to create a supportive, positive learning environment for her students to learn English.
Andre Laksmana32 years with local and international awards could be deemed incompetence and insubordination? So what exactly the Fulton County Board of Education is looking for?

Larry PellegriniWe all expect our education system to focus on doing what is right for children. This should first include a committment to encouraging and respecting the teachers, like Ms. Cheng, who are dedicated to their job and students. During her 32 years, she has proved exceptional devotion to a career that is frequently under-appreciated. She was not just "passing through" the school system, she was a symbol of it's best to thousands of students. What kind of message does it send when the system fails to fairly treat it's teachers?

Jose BlancoWhile I respect the authority of the Board, and the Principal in their internal admin matters, it is imperative and good management practices that disciplinary or severe personnel actions like this one be always understood and implicitly accepted by the person being disciplined. Otherwise, resistance and pushback occur. Furthermore, in cultures of such high value to the concept of respect, these type of actions, if not appropriate nor appropriately processed, do not become - as in the States - an employer "prerogative". There is a social conscioussness that needs to be addressed. A fair, just, and respectful treatment of such a long tenure employee must never come in doubt, esp. in an organization such as yours, Education. Thank you!
