# NameCommentsDo you own a dog, or have you ever owned a dog?
Kelly AtchisonMy thoughts are with you!01
AnonymousGood luck to youl I think that if Brindi was a cock-a-poo, or a golden retriever, this would not be happening, pity the poor black and tan large dogs in this world.01
Jon StoneThis is more than about one dog. This whole bylaw is anti-dog and this scenario could happen to anyone. In HRM a dog such as this who has never shown anything but affection to any human being and never seriously injured another animal can be killed! This could be your dog.02
Marc BoutilierBylaw A300 is a despicable piece of trash legislation that puts far too much power in the hands of animal control regarding the destruction of animals. According to the law the shelter keeper can arbitrarily destroy animal in their possession. This is a travesty and cannot go on.01
Pami PantigosoAlthough I do not know Brindi or her owner, I feel this is a travesty and an abuse of power and authority. Dog are animals, and they will behave as such, thus they may get into occasional scuffles with other dogs in order to determine rank. I find this matter disgusting and should Brindi be euthanized, I would hope the owner would take the appropriate recourse and sue Halifax's Municipal Government. My deepest sympathies to Brindi and her owner for going through this unbelievable and unthinkable ordeal. Pami Pantigoso CET. (Certified Educator/Trainer) www.bradpattison.com01
AnonymousBrindi loves her mom and that is where she belongs - HOME with you Francesca! With this by-law in place, NO DOG is safe. Sign to save Brindi and to perhaps save your own dog from the potentially same fate. Prayers are with you and Brindi.01
Anonymousi dont see why they would just go and take someones family member away when they havent even killed or give a serious injury!! i hope the dog is saved! she is part of a family and it would be like taking someone who hurt another and just killing them which is against the law!!!01

Anne Marie BrownI do not like it when dogs who can be aggressive get to hurt another dog or person BUT I don't think this dog deserves to die. Her owner just needs to make sure this NEVER happens again.01
lorie macmasterMy experience with dogs and cats is they are very therapeutic especially for people who live alone and also fill a void for lonely people.I have watched the injured people and depressed people in Afghanistan ,actually become interested in life again when the therapy dogs were brought to Afghanistan to assist them in their depression.BRINDI is a wonderful companion to the lady who owns her PLEASE DO NOT ALLOW UNTRAINED PEOPLE TO EUTHANIZE BRINDI.HOW MANY MORE WONDERFUL ANIMALS HAVE THEY ALREADY KILLED, WHY BECAUSE THEY THINK THEY KNOW THE FACTS WHEN USUALLY IT IS A NEIGHBOUR COMPLAINING ABOUT AN ANIMAL THEY KNOW NOTHING ABOUT.01

ROD MACLEANBRINDI DESERVES TO LIVE.ALL BRINDI NEEDS A FENCE.WHY can't neighbours be helpful to the lady who owns Brindi, after all we need people to stop picking on animals and instead of the neighbours being negative, get together and construct the fence for BRINDI,instead of beingPRICKS about the dog help the lady out, thats what neighbours do in our part of the woods.CHRISTIANS UNITE and make the word and the neighbourhood a betterplace for everyone to live, stop fighting and start taking care of each other,FOR GODS' SAKE.YOU COULD NEED A HAND FROM YOUR NEIGHBOURS NEXT WEEK.Practice good example and please HELP BRINDI STAY ALIVE.PUT YOUR MIND ON THE ISSUE AND SPEAK UP LOUD AND CLEAR FOR BRINDI AND HER OWNER.THIS IS CANADA SHOW THE PUBLIC WHAT YOU'RE MADE OF AND TRUST ME YOU WON'T BE SORRY FOR BEIN KIND TO NEIGHBOURS AND I'M SURE BRINDI WILL THRIVE AND EVERYONE WILL BE A WINNER.GOD BLESS .REV.ROD MACLEAN01
Lillian VandergriffPlease don't take away a part of this womans family. Its not right & Its not fair...01
Allison Kelly01
Bonnie BenmoreThe owner has apologized, and offered to provide a fenced environment for her dog, its completely unnecessary for this dog to be destroyed.01
Anonymoussave brindi01
Lucie PratteTo euthanize an animal should be the last resort after other options have been explored, and only if the animal is a true danger to the community. There seems to be an alternative that is reasonable and demonstrates that the owner wants to act responsibly to ensure that the dog is not a threat to the community.01
Noel Roces01
Cara BrownI cannot believe that Halifax Animal Control has actually seized a dog for euthanization that has barely even shown aggression towards other animals. It baffles and disgusts me. I hope that Brindi is released and all of your efforts are realized.01
Heather Morrison01
JanaI think this poor dog deserves another chance. Working with a professional trainer can help Brindi learn even more socialization skills, and how to not forge out the door inappropriately. It can be done, and I hope she gets the chance!01

AnonymousWe do not kill any human who just attacks another human, why should we do that to a dog? The owner is obviously willing to do whatever it takes to make her dog safer to other animals and people- even a seriously disturbed person would not meet this end, they would be sent for rehabilitation. Do not sentence this dog to such a sad fate when it can also be rehabilitated.01
Nadine BurwashSounds like Halifax is in the dark ages as far as understanding canine behavior, sad very sad01
Sarah Frache01
Susan ItoPlease re-think this completely unfair and unreasonable practice, and allow Brindi to return home to her loving and responsible owner.01
Anonymous02
Kathleen JesskeI feel that the dog and owner should be put through some more training. I think the situation should be monitored as well and have progress reports done.01
Gina Copley EatonFran, so sorry to hear about this dilemma! As an owner of 2 Jack Russell Terriers, I totally sympathize with your anxiety. If I could address the Regional Police Animal services I would ask them for mercy and 1 more chance for Brindi since you are actively working hard to remedy the situation. Is there a way you can guarantee to the Animal Police that she can't sneak past you to an open door? Can you offer to keep her tethered and muzzled even when she's just in your yard, until the fence is erected? And promise to keep her on a lead at all times, even at the beach? These are inconveniences, but they might help keep Brindi with you for the rest of her days. Keep looking up and blessings to you! - a voice from the past: Gina (Copley) Eaton01
karl greenthe stupidity of the laws there needs to be checks and balances and an evaluation of the dog before a dog is put downl and also proof positive before an animal is put down01
Cathy PaganoAs a non-dog owner, but an observer of life, euthanizing Brindi seems extreme and not the appropriate solution to the situation. I have witnessed many an encounter by two dogs that have turned into more than a "sniffing" exersize and those dogs are not put to sleep. If you have an owner (which you clearly do in this situation) who is willing to do whatever it takes, then this is a no-brainer.02
Shannon BondThis is a resolvable situation and the dog is not a serious threat to others. There are simpler and more humane methods to aide this dog and make the neighbours feel safe. A soft muzzle when out, training, the fence the owner is willing to build. Please give this dog a second chance.01
Kristina Ringstrom01
Glenda WattMake the punishment fit the crime! Give Brindi a chance.01
Melanie HilarioAs a dogowner, I can attest that Brindi's behavior is not in any way extreme, and moreover it is clear to me that Brindi has a responsible owner. Please do not euthanize an animal, nor bring grief to a human, in a case where neither is deserving. Please, give Brindi back to her family!01

Nancy RogierSurely there must be a better way to resolve this situation! I ask that the Halifax Regional Police Animal Services change the euthansia order to an order for a boundary fence and continued training.01
Jaime PalmerFree the dog!!01
AnonymousI am a believer that all animals deserve a second chance. If the owner is willing to go get help for a trainer and make sure that the dog does not get put in the situation to do the same thing, then they deserve a second chance! There are lots of dog aggressive dogs out there, and all they need is a responsible owner. I am sure now that the owner recongizes that there is a problem, there can be a solution. with euthanizia!!!01
