The petition

Did you know that our Federal Goverment charges surcharges on all overseas calls made to our troops serving overseas? The goverment has the right to send our soldiers over there, keep them for 15 months and not pay for their calls home. The Soldiers and their families pay for the minutes to call home. If a spouse or child wants to call their father serving in iraq or afghanistan they have to pay an average of 1.99 a minute and then a federal international surcharge on top of that. All calls should be free but since this isnt a perfect world and thats not going to happen, there shouldnt be a surcharge of any sorts. Lets spread the word and get this taken care of. Sign if you agree this is wrong.

I am a military spouse that is tired of our troops being taken advantage of. As a military spouse we are entrenched at home in the battle for our marriage, our childern, our faith and our sanity. It is my belief that a phone should be our last worry. My husband is on his 3rd deployment and we just had a little girl and all I want is for her to know her daddy, at least his voice. With all these charges and the price tag on all phone calls overseas this isn't going to be possible. Not only are our Soldiers paying for the calls from overseas, the families are paying even more to be able to talk to their Soldier.
