To John Carpenter:

Mr. Carpenter,

I think first and foremost it is important that I inform you I am 27-years-old, which may give my claim more validity than someone who was old enough to see Escape from New York in the theaters. Myself and a group of my friends are huge fans of your work and specifically that of which you did with Kurt Russell. The time for movie comebacks is now. Stallone paved the way with his 2008 Rambo and since then everything has fallen into place for you to make the ultimate in comeback movies, Escape from Earth. With Bad Boys 3 supposedly in the works, Arnold Schwarzenegger starting in a new Terminator film, and The Expendables trilogy filling seats in the theater, now is the time to start writing.

As a writer, I realize that someone saying “Hey, dude, write about this,” doesn’t really help the creative process, if it’s not there, it’s not there. I am simply asking that if you’ve ever considered sitting town to pen a new Snake Pliskin movie, now is the time. I mean, did you see Death Proof? If you don’t start working on it, maybe next time I’ll try to convince Quentin Tarantino to buy the rights and make it himself, but I think both myself and Mr. Tarantino, along with an incalculable amount of others, would prefer to see you do it.

Snake Plissken is personally my favorite movie character of all time, though I’ll admit Stuntman Mike comes a very close second. I can remember staying up late with my dad watching Escape from New York and I was lucky enough to see Escape from LA opening day in the theaters. I used to think that an Evil Dead sequel with Bruce Campbell would make me happier than any other movie could, but after seeing Mr. Tarantino’s Death Proof, I realized that what I really need, what the world really needs, is more Kurt Russell with eye injuries. More than any other film, novel, comic book, or album, I want to see/experience Escape from Earth. Nothing would make me more excited than an announcement that it was being produced.

A long time ago I heard a rumor that the only reason you hadn’t started filming was because you thought there was no market for it. Further research has revealed that this isn’t true. Instead it seems like a project that’s just kind of been forgotten. Well, I’m here to remind you that we haven’t forgotten. We might have thought he would be taller, but we never believed the rumors that Snake Plissken was dead. Show the world what a real hero is like.

Mr. Carpenter, bring back Snake.

To the signees:

I think this letter above speaks for itself. Let’s show Mr. Carpenter there’s a market for this movie. You want it, I want it. Bring back Snake. Sign what is probably the most important petition ever made.

Sincerest regards,

Frisco Edwards
