The petition
I the undersigned, will participate in a grass-roots American movement to promote conservation of energy, and over the next five years, stop buying OPEC oil.
Our primary purpose: END dependence on OPEC Oil within five years (by July 4th, 2013).
REASONS TO SUPPORT AMERICAN RESOURCES, AND STOP BUYING OPEC OIL:
1) Many OPEC nations support violence and terrorism. American citizens should not fund - directly nor indirectly - these nations. Companies that buy their fuel from these nations are funding the violence and terrorism throughout the world, and oftentimes against the United States.
By purchasing alternative fuels instead of traditional OPEC gas, we will be supporting trade among peaceful nations, not funding the spread of violence.
2) OPEC is a cartel - an oil cartel. A cartel's primary purpose is to price-fix and collude, conspiring to cheat consumers from paying a lower price which would otherwise be available in a free market economy.
Cartels are ILLEGAL in the United States.
We must support businesses that conduct free trade and charge a fair price for fuel. To purchase OPEC oil supports unfair trade practices. This is wrong. Therefore, must STOP purchasing cartel oil from OPEC, which is guilty of unfair trade practices.
3) By committing to energy independence, America will reduce the likelihood of further violence in the Middle East. America can not afford to continue to place its trust in one of the most unstable regions of the world.
By continuing to purchase oil from OPEC nations, America will continue to consider the Persian Gulf a region "vital to America's national interests." This must end.
By conserving energy, as well as replacing consumption of OPEC fuel with what are now termed "alternative energy" sources such as biofuels, America will benefit greatly by exponentially increasing its own fiscal health. America will energize its own economy by creating new business opportunities and financial self-sufficiency.
Brazil declared its oil independence; it's time America does the same. It is time we think of OPEC fuel as the "alternative" source, rather than our main source of energy.
It is time to focus on building a healthier, happier United States of America. By reducing our own consumption by 20% per year over the next five years.
Energy independence and the future health of the country's economy depends on each and every one of us to succeed.
