It's time for TV networks to quit passing the buck, and actually take eating disorders seriously. It doesn't matter if it's a show that makes a character become anorexic for a few days, have them not even get treatment (just to talk to family or friends) and to be miraculously cured by the end of the episode. Also included, we immensely dislike comedy made out of a serious situation such an example be the failed show Starved, or, a poorly contstructed episode of American Dad. Unless you're lovely Jenni Schaefer [http://www.jennischaefer.com/], I highly doubt you can make living with an eating disorder into any form of comedy. After all, if anything, trying to poke fun at eating disorders upsets lots of people. Also, Inaccuracy of portrayal of treatment may even make some people struggling with eating disorders shy away from even getting treatment, which really angers me.
When we say that we want eating disorder stigma on television to end, we mean it!
