STOP THE EAST TORONTO TRANSMISSION LINES

The petition

WHEREAS, due to the Mcguinty Liberal’s electricity plan, there is a proposal under consideration to create a high voltage corridor through the riding of Toronto-Danforth

WHEREAS the high voltage corridor may run under or near residential homes, businesses, schools, and seniors residences or through natural areas of the Don Valley;

WHEREAS the high voltage corridor may have a negative impact on the health of the residents of Toronto-Danforth;

WHEREAS the high voltage corridor may have a negative impact on residential and commercial property values;

WHEREAS the investment to create the high voltage corridor is unnecessary and does not contribute to a positive environmental impact and encourages hydro usage;

THEREFORE, we the undersigned petition the Legislative Assembly of Ontario to use its powers to cancel any plans to run high voltage transmission lines through the provincial riding of Toronto-Danforth; not to allow scarce dollars to create an unnecessary and unwanted high voltage corridor; and instead to invest those dollars into energy efficiency, conservation, alternative and renewable power.
