The petition

• Whereas travel agencies support automation and a complete move to a 100% ET capable reservations and ticketing environment; and

• Whereas IATA member airlines have not provided an automated ET solution for each transaction type where a paper ticket is now required; and

• Whereas travel agencies cannot pick and choose those BSP transactions which the agency will or won't fulfill for its customers; and

• Whereas no BSP-participating airline has communicated any alternative procedures to issuing a paper ticket when an ET would not be possible; and

• Whereas travel agencies in the USA and all airlines themselves are not being asked to terminate paper tickets, thereby creating an unlevel and uncompetitive playing field for Canadian travel agencies; and

• Whereas the premature removal of paper ticket stock from BSP-participating travel agencies will create complete chaos and disruption in the travel agency distribution channel; now

THEREFORE, the undersigned travel agent is vehemently opposed to the elimination of paper MPDs on 05 May 2008 and paper OPTAT tickets on 01 June 2008 or at any time prior to the implementation of an ET solution for each transaction type where an ET is not issuable today and where only a paper ticket would be possible.
