What about the children that live in that community? If the young people don't have a place to exercise themselves they are doomed to exercise 'crime' as a way to entertain themselves. Roller skating is what kept me as a youth off the streets. When this facility closes down, what will the youth do? Where will the adults get there so much needed exercise? We always talk about community and our youth, what about them now? Whenever we close down a facility or place that is used to entertain and keep them off the streets and out of trouble what options do we leave them? Then we complain about the trouble they get into but when we take away there options what can we say?!!! What is so important that the skating rink must be closed??? Is this the last piece of realestate to build apon, will the project that will take its place be so significant as to erase the benefits that are now enjoyed by the community?? Greed left unchecked leads to extinction. |
