| 68 | Hi to all. its wrong that the people that are selling empire or that is the world around town saying that they must have something else besides the rink there. i has come to my attention that empire is to been sold and in contract to be destroyed and a cosco supermartket. reguardless of what has happended in the passed empire has keeped kids of the street and has kids and adults skating in ny. me as a skater has that has been in empire for 8 years this is not far to me or to my friends that love to skate in ny. just let the white man know that empire close the kids that area will have no where to go and there will be no rollerrink in ny and the For you infor the roxy is not a skating rink its (club) back in the day it was but not now. we the people of the skate world need to hold on to this (EMPIRE ROLLERRINK) needs to stay and we dont need no more supermartkets in that area we allready have a westerbeef on the corner 2 blocks away daaaaaaaaa |

| 77 | To whom it may concern, I started skating at age 11 or 12 at paramus roller rink. I stopped between the ages of 14 & 17 because I thought it was a kid thing. I started partying alot at those ages. Somehow I got back into skating and realized that it was a good way to stop the partying & meet really nice people (of all creeds and colors I might add). It gave me self esteem, new friends and a great cardio work out! It would be a shame to lose another skating venue to put up another warehouse or office. It takes alot of money to create a nice rink with a great floor and sound system. Not only are you losing a landmark but peoples lives will be changed forever. I used to skate about 45 minutes from my house on a thursday night. They turned it into a lacrosse arena. Needless to say that venture failed and what's to show for the quick buck? A closed down buisness with memories and future positive memories gone forever. Please reconsider another building for your quick buck! Thank You! I am a native of Philadelphia and have taken many trips to New York for many roller skating excursions. I am very disappointed to hear the Empire may be closing. May we all give a small contibution of time and spirit to keep the Empire alive and well. |

| 80 | I have lived in Brooklyn all of my 48yrs and as a child I couldnt wait for the weekend so my friends and I could go to Empire. I later on had 2 daughters who also could wait to go skating on the weekends. If they close Empire where will the children, teens and adults go for this joyous family event. There are NO skating rinks located anywhere in Brooklyn and who wants to travel to NJ or Manhattan, Long Island when they can stay right in there own borough and skate. It should have been a landmark years ago. I hope that they don't let this happen. P.S. We need Empire Roller Rink. |

| 85 | My Family has been skating at Empire Roller Rink since the 1960's.i have uncle and cousin that have worked there one for over 30 years.Another uncle started a skate group called he Blue Guerrillas.He took Poor kids off the street and taught them how to roller skate and eventually how to work for themselves.Empire Roller Rink is the last of the old roller rink community that use to be an icon in NY state.Empire has supported the black community but the white community also.This is the home of disco skating.Empire should be an historical landmark always identified with brooklyn ny. |
