Its so sad that that a gem like empire is to be replaced by a garbage dump called Storage .Seeing everyone hanging out in front and getting down inside was a beautiful sight A true sense of community . Empire is sacred . Places like Empire make the world a better place. So stop watching T.V., Show your kids that there is more to life than the Disney channel . "Get out and skate... " |

He is truly hurt, and so are alot of youth that attend the rink. This will definitely hur tthe community. People from all over to skate. Please don't take the last thing they have for entertainment. |

| 916 | The Empire Roller rink is a part of generations of childhoods and teenage years. 40 years ago, my Late Oldest Brother skated there with groups of his friends. Many years later my generation found joy in skating there as well. It warmed my heart to be able to introduce my son to the roller rink. I've birthday parties there for my son for a period of 3-4 y ears in a row. Never a problem. What a shame that Brooklyn will no longer have recreational places for it's children and adults to go to. I have friend who have found Love at Empire Roller Rink. Surely there are enough empty warehouses in Brooklyn to use for a storage facility. I would really like to see some the Entertainers (especially those who come from Brooklyn) also step to the plate and do what that can. |
| 917 | U can't close empire skating rink! My parents and their friends grew up in there. i myself have grown up there and have many fond memories of my childhood and even now in my 20's. A group of my friends regularly rent out empire skating rink and we always have a good time skating, laughing and dancing, It is a landmark, u say empire blvd and we think of the rink. This institution keeps children off the streets and out of trouble. Please do all you can to keep this business up and running it would be a major disappointment to this this place close |
| 918 | It was a shocking and sad revelation when I heard that Empire Roller Skating RInk was closing. I'm really upset because I have so many fond memories of events that I attended at this wonderful place. As a young girl, I remember going to parties and watching the older kids doing their tricks and things, and I would lean over and tell my Mom I can do that. I can still hear her saying "Yes you can baby. You just have to try. And don't be afraid to fall, you can always get back up!" My mom grew up skating and now she passed that passion on to me. I got a chance to mingle, develop social interaction skills, develop physical coordination and increase my stamina, all while having fun with my friends as I watched the world of "Empire" revolve around me. It touches my heart to think that one place in my hometown touched the lives of so many and brought such a great mix of people to Brooklyn. Now it really hurts to think that not only won't I be able to go skating on a Saturday night or go to a skating party on a Sunday night, but neither will my children. They will never know the joy of "A night at Empire." And its such an intense excitement that I could never fully explain it to them. Please preserve the grandeur that is EMPIRE! Let Brooklyn hold on to one of its major Landmarks....let us all have our memories and be able to create new ones tomorrow! For the love of generations to come and eras long gone, Please SAVE EMPIRE!!!!! |
| 919 | I remember when I would cash my pennies to go skating at Empire Roller Rink. It's a shame that it is closing,because Empire was an extra activity for kids to be involved in instead of just hanging out.I just heard it was closing on 4.22. I felt like my heart broke in a thousand pieces. I met a lot of great people there.I'm glad I experienced EMPIRE and I feel sorry for those who didn't. Nobody plays like BIG BOB. Where will he be playing this summer?Let me know. Miss You Empire. |

| 925 | In Memory of my beloved Uncle Henry Abrami the Founder of Empire Roller Disco, he was so proud of his rink, and he knew that he started something big and exciting at the time. A new generation of roller skating call roller disco, all the other rinks ,all over the country follow his idea , by eliminating the traditional organ music. He would be saddened by the closing of his Empire. We all must stop higher insurance premiums that has cause roller skating rink owners to go out of business. Keep the Empire part of history going, just remenber it is the last rink left in New York City. |

| 927 | Empire roller skating ring is a NYC landmark. I have roller skated here as a young girl every Saturday and Sunday afternoon from 2-5. It was fun and it kept me out of trouble. My parents never worried about me when I left home to go skating. They just gave me $5 buck and told me to have a good time. Yes that was years ago when you could skate eat and ride the bus home for $5 buck. I have a lot of good memories and I want my daughter to go there. Please don't close the skating ring we need this in Brooklyn. |

| 941 | I live a distance from New York, I live in the Midwest. I just came across this and it breaks my heart to see a historic skating rink shutdown. I am so sorry. My family has been involved in the skating rink business for 4 generations now. We are having our worse year due to high gas prices and inflation and what is so ironic is that it's been our busiest year. We haven't seen as many skaters in our rink in over 15 years, but since things are so expensive now, we are having a hard time staying open. BUT... this rink has been in our town for over 50 years and I will do everything within my power to make sure it stays around for another 50. I hope your rink finds a way to stay open, if not, I am so sorry, I know what it's like to lose a good rink. My grandfathers rink burnt down a few years ago and was not rebuilt, so many miss it, it was like losing a person you love. |
