| 853 | I visited Empire Skating ring for the first time in my life this month and I'm 21 years old. I can't express how much fun I had. I went along with my Boyfriend and my two children and vowed we would go every month after until I saw a sign displayed saying that it was closing. Please keep this Historic Venue open so that generations to come can expereience what my family did. |

It also helps us remember our youth when the schools took us to roller skate it would really be a shame to let such special places get torn down for what ever reason may. |

| 860 | I used to skate 3 nights a week with the Navy guys when the Brooklyn Navy Yards were still active and Ebbotts Field was used by the Brooklyn Dodgers. I used to dance with the teachers on Saturday night for exhibition. This was in the early fifties. The rink should be saved. |

| 864 | last night, after an epic night of skating at empire, i managed to lose one of my shoes. a favorite pair. but those shoes are not as important to me as the ability to skate at empire. it would be a shame to close this venue as it is a creative, physical, and emotional outlet for ALL AGES. the sheer talent, love, and dedication i witnessed was staggering. keep empire alive! |
| 865 | i found out very late that the rink was closing. i am disappointed that it is the only rink left to skate at. all the other are closed. it has been around for so long that it should be considered a landmark. so yes save empire it is a favorite spot for many people in the community. don't kill it. |

| 877 | I think the rink should remain open. My friends and I used to skate there when we were teenagers and now my brothers and sisters love it. Also, if they close the rink, there will br now where to skate. If you think about it once it is close there will be no skating rings in Brooklyn. The one in the Bronx is closed. So now what? Where do we go to skate. It is also a special place to me because my mother used to take me there all the time and that was her favorite place and since she died, I promised myself that I will continue to skate. If you close the rink apart of her memory is gone. |

| 884 | ive been goin to empire since the second grade and for some one to come and close it down is the worst. I cant believe there closing empire skating rink to make a storage space . Like there isnt any other storage spaces all around brooklyn. Plus empire is not always about socializing and skating but a way to stay healthy. Like any one from brooklyn is about to go all the way to chelsea piers to skate for a couple of hours and travel all the way back to brooklyn. This skating rink has been around since my aunts and uncles were my age and to take that away from us is just wrong !!!! so therefore i am against the demolition of empire skating rink. |

| 900 | PERSONALLY, I AM GLAD THAT EMPIRE IS GOING TO CLOSE. I ALSO HAVE ALSO SPENT MY CHILDHOOD YEARS AT THE RING BUT THERE WAS NOT AS MUCH VIOLENCE. THERE WAS VERY LITTLE FIGHTS, SLASHINGS AND NO SHOOTINGS. I BELIEVE THAT OVER THE YEARS THE OWNERS HAS LOST THEIR VISION OF WHAT THE RING INTENTIONS WERE. IN THE END I'VE WITNESS UNDERAGE PATRONS BEING ACCEPTED IN TO INTERACT WITH PATRONS OF AGE INSIDE THE RING. THAT WAS MY RED LIGHT. ONCE YOU FALL SHORT OF DIRECTION, YOU ARE ON THE FAST TRACK TO DESTRUCTION AND THAT IS WHAT I BELIEVE HAPPENED. SO WITH THAT SAID PEACE TO ALL OF THE PEOPLE WHO ENJYED THE TIMES AT EMPIRE SKATEING RING. HOPEFULLY ONE DAY WHEN OUR CHILDREN ARE ABLE TO ACCEPT THE BOUNDARIES OF FUN AND JOY OPPOSED TO STYLING AND PROFILING WE CAN REBUILD. |
