My parents skated at Empire in the 50's my uncles/aunts in the 60's, brothers/sisters in the 70's i ultimately joined the refined group of regulars in the early 80's and have be skating at empire ever since. the messege im sending to you is that this is not a fly by night venue this is the renowed EMPIRE ROLLER RINK. taking Empire away is like taking away the Statue of Liberty or removing the Brooklyn Bridge, or the Grand Central Station, Empire Roller Rink is in the same catagory as the formentioned. Empire is used by millions across the world, its a safe haven for the community to go out and socialized and enjoy the art of Roller Skating, which millions of us has mastered and articulated into our own skating style over the years. To see us skate at empire from the sideliines is a breathtaking experience a joy to see. the styles of various skaters the effortless moves and precision, couples and the legendary Empire train, not to mention the soulful sound of our legendary DJ Mr. Big Bob. We enter the building with such excitement and anticipation of seeing our fellow rollerskaters whom we've known for many many years to laugh and skake and simply have fun. this is like taking candy from a baby. Empire should stay where it is and continue to operate and give what it has given over 70yrs unmeasured joy and fun for million who congregate at this RENOWED/LEGENDAY VENUE - EMPIRE ROLLERSKATING RINK SHOULD NOT AND WILL NOT DIE. |

Im African American myself but It's an overwhelming feeling of Joy I get when I see Hasidic, Orthodox Jews mixing and mingling with others on Sat night HAVING A BLAST ..
