To destroy history is to destroy the furture
I grew up skating at Empire. My nieces and nephews now skate there.

We need to stop the senseless violence and increase the knowledge. Empire was a big part of my life growing up in BK.
Save EMpire. Don't close the RINK!!! Let keep Ebbets Field alive!
The Greatest Gospel Concerts Brooklyn New York
Please don't close Empire, the neighborhood children will be at great risk with no healthy outlet. and it would break my heart to see it close there is no other Empire and I need to skate at Empire, even at my age. ?
Please don't close empire down because all of the children go there to have decent fun, Emoire is the best skating Rinking in Brooklyn. And plus my mom would be so crush, so keep open please thanks.

i think empire should have a bucket when people are skating and collect the offering people are willing to give lower their prices a little not a lot make others know put the newspaper that EMPIRE ROLLER SKATING ring is closing and please help keep us open say why you are closing and people will probably help you have celebrity come out for help probably raise the price and people will come see 14.50 for adult and 12.25 for children 14& under i think if empire do these thing they for a another month think u all EMPIRE the best
I learned how to skate before i could walk good at empire. My parents and their good friends skated at empire. This place is truly a legend and to close this place would be a big mistake. My family has the children birhday parties their and the children love it. Empire roller skating ring is like part of my families tradition. Its an outlet for people of all races a palce where families regroup after a long week and enjoy each other. Empire is a historical landmark. They passed laws on changing certain homes or rebulding the surface because they hold traditional New York value. Empire hold tradition New York value to the people of Brooklyn and those who travel from other boroughs to enjoy the only and last roller rink between the five boroughs. I plead not as a single signature but as a generation please dont close Empire this is a home away from home for some of us it will be like making generations and generations of families homeless.

Don't close empire it is a fun safe place
Please do not close Empire Roller Sking Rink it has been around for so many years. It is a great place for everyone to have fun and skate.
It would be so sad to see yet another rink vanish. So many of our rinks are gone in Southern Ontario.
Empire is not only a landmark it is Brooklyn.....just like the trees that grows in Brooklyn.....
Pl don't close it. My daughter loves this place. We have some very happy memories, including her 10th birthday party. It''s a great place, with friendly people.

Do not close Empire!!!. It is a Brooklyn icon ! I am displeased it is never made into a landmark !
Please give New Yorkers a place to pratice. There are too many of us to go without this type of forum.

I came to Empire Skating Rink in 1971. My brother Houston was a skate guard there. I grew up in that rink surrounded by the love of a community of skaters that protected us from the mean streets of NYC. I lived right around the corner on Bedford Ave and remember the rink through all of its evolutions. I remember the owner Henry Abrami, Gloria, Rahaman, Bill Butler and Peanut, Tony and Viv, Chuck, Horace, Kim, Puerto Michael and Charlie, Big Mike, Preston, the Blue Gorillas, the Wheeler and Dealers (I was a junior Wheeler Dealer); Eddie Mae, Pat and Bobby; Maurice, Roland, Fat Shawn and so many people that were a part of my early life. Part of my success in life was my life at the Empire Roller Rink. When I was at the rink, I was not on the street getting in trouble. This place has soooo much history, it has to be preserved as a historic cultural landmark. I felt so strongly about being a part of Empire, I got a tattoo of my Snyder's with flying wings, on my shoulder, with the words "Brooklyn." Everyone from New York knows my tattoo represents Empire. I am 47 years old and even though I live in Atlanta, I still skate. It is because of my early years at Empire.
omg i will do anything 2 keep this open please keep it open please this keeps me out of trouble on my saturdays please keep it open ( where else iam going 2 go to bagg shorties!!) aww mannn
Best rink ever!

i have begin skating at empire for so many years now. I am 19years old now and all of the many things that Crown Heights Brooklyn had to offer is begin stripped away from us slowly. Empire has begin in our community for very 70years. I have aunt and uncles that come from flordia at least once a month to come skating up here to enjoy the environment of it because of the history that they have had. Empire is a LANDMARK. LANDMARK are not suppose to be destory there are suppose to be improved and revised. Please as a young man becoming an adult dont take this from the young children that have nothing else to look forward to because they will not be able to travel hours away to new jersey and other states to skate. PLEASE KEEP EMPIRE SKATING ALIVE.
I am dying to visit this rink and if it's closed, how can I?

Don't close it! My roller derby group from Providence really wants to take a trip there!
This is a great place for recreation. This would be a tragic loss especially to the families of this city

Empire Rollerskating Rink offers so much to the community for so many years. I may have had my first fall, and my first fight, but please don't make me say farewell!
I live not too far from Empire skating ring and to hear that it is going to close is a shame. Ive been going since I was a child. It was one of the many places that is essential to the people of Brooklyn especially the children. This historic place should be saved.
Empire is all we have left in the city. Can you imagine NYC without any skating rinks at all. We can't let Walmart or whoever bought the building to take away our only rink. The place is always packed so I don't see where money was an issue.
I was thinking, since Empire does not use the space during the day, maybe a summer camp that teaches skating could be started. Maybe the rinks can be divided into sections with freestanding easels, and other subjects could be taught from maybe 8a to 6p. Either empire could charge the instructers or the teachers could collectively form a camp and rent the space from Empire.
please save our skating rink, it's a great place for taking our kids to have fun that is much close to home. thank you

soooo sad.. :(

Empire roller skating rink is brooklyn. When you say brooklyn you say empire roller skating rink. Empire roller skating rink belongs in brooklyn. This is a historical landmark. This is a part of brooklyn's history and we need to make this official.
