I started skating at Empire on Sunday afternoons as a youth and continued years later as an adult on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday nights for years, I did my laps around the rink and is sad to see Empire close. But the youth of today need a place to skate as I did. I hope something can be done for the younger generation. |

| 564 | I am 27 years old have been skating (both quad & blades) in Central park since in was about 2 years old. My father is a long time skater for over 25 years. I skated at Empire only a few times. I hope that it does not close. In the winter it's a great source of exercise since they is not much skating in the park in the winter. |

| 577 | The city (New York) will have no real roller skating rinks remaining when Empire closes. RIP High Roller (Became Copacabana Night Club Now luxury Apt Building), Skate Key (Closed), Skate Key 2 (The Key) (Closed), Waverly (closed), Skating Palace (Closed), Stars (Closed), The Roxy (Closed), Park Circle (closed). Others outside the city have had the same fate: The Rink NJ (closed), Laces LI (Closed) along with many others. Everything in NY should not be about dollars and cents. New Yorkers want to live a vibrant life. Roller skating is a healthy way to stay in shape and have some fun at the same time. There are storage facilities everywhere. Let Empire and Roller skating live on. |

| 580 | My parents were avid skaters and introduced me and my siblings to Empire when I was 8 years old and I have been skating ever since(now 30 something). I introduced my daughter at the age of 2 and she is now 9 she loves Empire as I do and we will show support in anyway possible to stop it's closure. |
| 581 | I have gone there and skated with my son and family and I plan to go there on my birthday March 18th 2007 with my son due to a school oriented trip that his private school had planned for the kids. It is a fun and very inspiring environment for the children as well as adults. A great and positive resource for exercise, with a tremendous sense of pride and community and I am deeply saddened by the pending news of it's closing. I sincerely hope that it does not come to pass. |

| 584 | I been a memeber of Empire for many years off and on because I went into the Army and did 20yrs the first place I came back to was Empire to get my skate on. I'm from Brooklyn Empire is the one place I always look forward to going to, to get my skate on. To close down Empire would like like telling NYC we can't roller skate in NYC any more. So many of us grow up in at the Empire Roller Skating Rank. I ask that we are the People do what ever it takes to keep Empire open. |
