Coach Dorrell does not have the experience or the tenacity required to produce a team that could be a contender for a national title -- or even a Pac-10 one. It has been long enough. UCLA deserves better.

Mediocrity has no place at an institution at UCLA, whatever the field or sport...
He is simply not the guy.
I've been a life long bruin, spending six years at UCLA from undergraduate to graduate degrees. I don't understand why we should accept mediocrity in the football program. Find us a coach who has some experience and a record of success. Karl Dorrell should learn how to be a coach for some other program. Get us a winner.
2003 Alumnus He seems like a genuine nice guy and this is not personal. But he's had enough years to prove himself. It seems like there has been absolutely no progress. Just a constant hope for a better year next year...and the year after...and the year after that. This past year should have been the cumulative year to show where he can take a university like UCLA (with all its history, prestige, and advantages). We have to move on and give someone else a chance.

A man with no energy or emotion can never be a great leader ! Dorrell has no passion for this game, he has to go. Our players played their heart out all season long, they deserve a great leader who can lead thim to victory. Dorrell has failed these kids.

GO BRUINS!
this man has done nothing. He thinks we beat S.C but we all know that Mr De Wayne Walker beat S.C .

Nice, pleasant guy, Not a head coach.
1-3 in bowl games.
Karl Dorrell has low standards. Karl Dorrell mixes these low standards with a tangible fear of defeat -- both of which our opponents constantly use to their advantage. Karl Dorrell's vapid, dispassionate brand of leadership has disconnected him from the young, impressionable athetes he is charged with motivating. Karl Dorrell is no General. and cannot possibly perform to the best of their abi As a coach, he demonstrates an incredible lack of preparation a
As a life-long Bruin, alumnus (all 3 degrees), and former instructor, UCLA has been my "second home".I have hesitated to express these views, thinking last year marked a turnaround in the football program. But my alumna wife and daughters and I are football fans to the core and basketball fans only secondarily., and we are tired of bleeding Bruin blue! Greatness in basketball-as fine as that is, is the product of great coaching and recruiting. But that does not substitute for-or make up for a truely deficient football program!! SC knows that and is putting tremendous effort in establishing a basketball program to match the excellence of its football program. We can and must do no less!! The point has been made elsewhere that an unsuccessful (and that's what it is) football program loses money for the University. It loses more. We've lost confidence, for example, in the AD, not only with regard to his intentions, which can no longer be believed, but in his abilities, Coach Howland not withstanding. Alumni have lost interest and the city and probably the country have lost respect. Boise State showed us football coaching to win which translated to its inspired players.USC did the same in the Rose Bowl. UCLA shows the world coaching not to lose-yet we do lose far too many games and wind up those games with too many apathetic players. Do the players believe that this staff can coach them to come from behind and win-I doubt it. When the chips are down, Coach Carroll is one with his players. Coach Dorrell seems apart from his players, distanced and remote. Psychologically, that conveys negativity and disapproval to the players, who are already overburdened with a complicated and uninspiring playbook, and coaching that is, at best, inconsistent and mediocre. Therefore, though I recognize that he is a fine man who brought honor to himself as a player, I add my voice and vote to those calling for an end to the coaching career of Karl Dorrell at UCLA and his replacement with a winning coach. Whatever it costs will be more than made up by increased ticket sales, alumni support and respect! Howard A. Grey, Ph.D.

Karl Dorrell is a quality guy but has been over his head as Head Coach for UCLA, and has not reached the level of a good coach, and after 4 years, it is apparent he never will. UCLA deserves better, and when a quality coach is hired, the football program will flourish. Mr. Guerrero, you promised when you hired Dorrell that the goal was to win Pac-10 championships and compete in BCS bowl games. Now is the time to fulfill your promise. Thank you, Dr. Robert Woo
I couldn't agree more with this letter. Doubtful you'll fire him this year but next year they better be 11-2 with a bowl win as they will have an experienced team.

Fire KD!
I received a BA and MBA from UCLA and was fortunate to play Bruin baseball for two years in the 70's. My wife and I have been season ticket holders for over 30 years and have seen many great and not so great seasons. We travel frequently with fan travel and support the University in many areas. We have stood in the corner of Coach Dorrell since day one with each year hoping for improvement from the players and coaching staff, all to no avail. This year, except for the USC victory it was one of the saddest seasons we have experienced. Dorrell has no confidence in his team as evidenced by the "red zone" offense. He is satisfied to kick a field goal, What we need is a coach who goes for the gusto and gives his team the confidence that they can win. His conservatism and lack of confidence has cost us at least four games this season and as a long time season ticket holder I have to ask our AD to seriously consider making a change for the 2007 season. Look at the enthusiasm of the coach on the other side of town. He has confidence in his players and coaches and shows his exhuberance on the sidelines. Look at KD on the sidelines and you are looking at a "deer in the headlights". The Emerald Bowl effort was a disgrace to our prestiges University. A nation wide audience watched KD kick a field goal with 4th and 1 on the 2 yard line. This is a bowl game, the final game of the season and the conservative mindset does not let up. We need an experiecned Div 1A head coach. (Larry Coker) Dorrell never should have had the opportunity to coach at this level. He was not ready. I have resigned myself to the fact that 2007 will be another 5-5 or 6-5 season. I will still continue to spend money on season tickets, the atheletic fund, band fund, cheer squad, etc., etc. We all hope that the AD will hear our cries of misery and mediocracy and seriously make a positive change.
UCLA is not the place for coaches to learn. Recruiting will never be the problem. UCLA has always recruited well even in the Toledo era. The problem is coaching. Dorrell should have never been hired.

He is not suited for the college game. We need a motivator and a GREAT recruiter.

I also think that Karl Dorrell should be fired. He has yet to prove he is worthy of leading the UCLA Bruins football team to greatness.

I was at Notre Dame for the game. It made me sick watching them give it away through poor coaching.
Karl Dorrell's record has been a disgrace. I'm sure he is a very nice person, but our STUDENT ATHLETES deserve more qualified leadership and our SCHOOL deserves a better win loss record. Nothing against Karl, but if he can't deliver, then he needs to step aside for someone that can. As a student, no matter how nice I was or how popular I was, what mattered most were my results. Why should it be any different for Karl.

So sad that Mariucci was in, but since we beat SC Dorrell stays. I don't like being penalized for winning such a big game. Make a change. Please.
I agree completely.
