The answer to the football issue is an experienced head coach, hopefully from D1, who has won before, and knows how to put it all together. Karl Dorrell, as loyal as he is, and attractive to various football related groups, will get it done when the right assistants happen to come to Westwood, the right senior laden talent is in place, etc. This will happen once in a while. A better HC will yield more *utts in the seats and better TV packages, and more $$ to the school. Thanks for the job you are doing related to the other sports. I suspect this one was thrust on you and it is yours to sort.
I like the guy as a person, but he's not the right guy for the program....he's too conservative, and it costs us all the time....

As an economics major, I unerstand the impact that diminished attendence @ home football games has on the overall athletic budget. With it's abundence of resources, there is absolutely no reason that UCLA football should be in the current position it's in. Coach Dorrell has had ample time to restore the program to it's rightful place and has simply failed as the above record indicates. The players, fans and supporters deserve better. If you are truly interested in establishing UCLA as a perenial national contender you will make a change and hire a bright energetic established coach. Just think what 15-20,000 additional fans attending home games can bring to the athletic department revenue. I can pretty much guarantee you that there's a better chance that 10-15,000 less fans will regularly attend future games if Coach Dorrell remains. What will that do to your budget? I can also guarantee you that there is a large number of fans, supporters who are just waiting and praying for the program to turn around. I beleive that you are a very wise man who can see the big picture. Please do what you know you need to do. Thanks.

Please fire him

As an alumni of UCLA, I don't believe our football program needs to serve any longer as a training ground for a football coach who, while a decent guy, was not prepared to take over as head coach of our team. We have a proud football tradition, big-conference participation, and access to amazing local talent. I believe we can do much better
We need and deserve a Ben Howland-type coach in football. Nobody expects annual competition for national championships with our academic standards, but we can do much better than .500 or worse seasons for 3 of every 4 years. Karl Dorrell was only a few great performances by Ben Olson, Marcedes Lewis, and Maurice Drew-Jones (none of whom he recruited) and a lot of luck away from being 6-6 last year, a record they will be very lucky to reach this year given how things are going. I know we are going to be very loaded next year, but we should go with a new coach with a clean slate and maybe we can have a season akin to Charlie Weis' first year at Notre Dame with all of our experience and talent. Karl Dorrell seems like a good man who tried his best and he deserved 4 years to prove he deserved this job, but he has clearly not succeeded and it is time for a change.

I used to be a season ticket holder and since the hire of Dorrell refuse to renew my tickets and am losing confidence in the administration in making the right choices regarding the football program.
UCLA, it's football players & everyone that supports UCLA deserves a top-notch coach and not some incompetent coach who is "learning on the job". UCLA has a rich history in football as well and having one good season in four is not how champions are built upon. This HC is clearly way out of his league.
Ben Howland=Proven Coach who wins Karl Dorell=Unproven, unwanted, needs to go

Dan, I graduated in 1987 and love everything about UCLA. I realize that Karl Dorrell was your hire, but it is time to cut our losses. The gap between the Bruins and USC is getting wider by the day and I hope you can objectively see that this program is about to tank very fast if you do not step in and hire another Ben Howland type of proven, tough minded, defensive coach. Not next year, now! We need someone who can stand toe-to-toe with Pete Carroll and not flinch. We need someone who knows how to recruit top talent and make great halftime adjustments. This is football, we need some killer attitude!
I think we need somebody who can take this program seriously. He seems to be happy with mediocrity, or at least he doesn't know how to fix it.
i only have 2 seasons of football left to see after this one while i'm on this campus and i would like to see us beat southern cal at least once......dorrell is not capable of making this possible.
Butch Davis, Steve Mariucci.....anyone except Dorrell!
Please do something that'll make me, once again, proud to wear my UCLA hat during football season.
An educational institution should not employ anyone so slow to learn as Coach Dorrell.

I am a senior at UCLA. Dorrel has not led us to victory over SC once while i have been here. It is time for him to go
Do the right thing and make UCLA football respectable again. Please!

There is no reason why our football program should tolerate mediocrity.

Please, no more on the job training for our next UCLA football coach.

Class of 2005
Please make a coaching change before we lose to SC and they tie our record
It is imperative that Karl Dorrell be fired. We the Bruin alumni (00) are tired of his underachieving act. With the natural advantages UCLA has, we deserve a better football program, one that takes a backseat to no one. So please fire Dorrell as soon as possible.
Try for Butch. Please!

Please restore UCLA's football program. Continuing on Dorrell's track will obliterate our program along with the University's reputation. Alumni, Athletic Fund Donor, Season Ticket Holder.

It is time that we no longer accept mediocrity from our football program. We have all the tools necessary to be a great football program and it is time we strive to be a great program. Dump Dorrell and bring in a real coach like Steve Kragthorpe!
Bring our football program back to prominence. B.S./M.D. UCLA, Fund Donor
I have the utmost respect for Coach K but we're just not getting it done, change is needed.

It's time for UCLA to win a BCS game.
