Too much exposure to field such an embarrassing product. We deserve better.

I graduated from UCLA in 1991 and I am passionate about the football program. While I do not like to see anyone lose their job, and while Karl Dorrell seems like a good person, it is time for a head coaching changel. Facts don't lie. Karl Dorrell is not getting the job done: subpar recruiting classes, poor win/loss record, no momentum in building a winning tradition. Please replace Karl Dorrel at season's end. Anthony Vitek
Dump the bum!
We need to see play development and not just for an exciting game to watch. We need to see solid plays called at 4th and 1 moments. We need someone who is willing to take a chance and call a fake play, confuse the opponent and take the time to help the team perfect those types of plays.
4 years of patience is more than the average college football fan can tolerate without meaningful results. A single 10-2 record with players a former football coach recruited does not override the otherwise poor results KD has delivered. My petitions is not emotionally-driven, rather I've assessed the lackluster performance KD has experienced. Please seek a new replacement, but do not repeat the past and consider a candidate without a proven track record as head coach.

Please do so, and hire someone with a less conservative approach. We need to make UCLA a contender in the PAC10 for football,. We need a Football championship! ~Marlene
I'm an alum with a B.S. `88 and a Ph.D `97 I have stuck by our teams through thick and thin and now I must do a hard thing for the Bruins: I truly hate asking for a man to lose his job - especially since Karl Dorrell seems to be a fine, upstanding gentleman - and a Bruin. However, his inexperience is hurting the UCLA football program, which hurts the athletes who play for our school with hopes of NFL careers. The smart athletes will choose schools where they get coaching and exposure which help their careers. Further, Dorrell's performance is probably harming his own career - we may not have a football dynasty but we play schools who do, nd they have fans nation-wide. Dorrell's coaching errors are seen across the country. It is too bad his first head coach job wasn't for a lower profile team where he could learn and make mistakes without all of the attention. One day he could be a powerful head coach - but if this continues he will never be given a chance again. Please find a kind way to ease the burden off of the UCLA team and Karl Dorrell.

Dorrell is simply not the man to do the job. It is not getting any better, next year is not "the" year, it will be more of the same. I hope more UCLA fans are tired of always being a lower middle-tier football team -- and if you think we're not lower middle-tier, you're part of the problem.
Please fix the mistake now. This problem will not alleviate itself after yet another wasted recruiting season.
Thank you so much!!!!!!!
Please get rid of this third tier coach
I am sorry to do this, but it is time. Please keep the standards you set when you dismissed Coach Toledo.

You stated a committment to a winning football program. Failing to act when it is clear the the current coach is unable to fulfill that commitment is to reneg on that promise. Were you telling us the truth, or just blowing smoke.
I graduated with a BA in Economics with the class of 92, and I graduated from the UCLA School of Law with the class of 95. I have been a season ticket holder since 92, and I am thinking of not renewing my season tickets if things don't improve. While I love UCLA football, it takes effort and money to get to 6 games per year...effort and money that do not seem well spent if improvement is not on the horizon. Dorrell's 10-2 season in 05 seems to have been an anomaly, as evidenced by the 6-7 record in 03, the 6-6 record in 04, the blowout losses to Arizona and USC in 05 (and the 4 other games that could have or should have been losses in 05), and the record UCLA appears to be heading for in 06. Notre Dame should serve as a model for what can happen when a team hires the right coach. Notre Dame was wallowing in mediocrity when it let Ty Willingham go. Now, they are on the verge of going to their second straight BCS bowl game (with Willingham's players), and Charlie Weis has turned Brady Quinn from a no-name QB into a heisman candidate and potential first overall pick in the NFL draft. Meanwhile, Charlie Weis is also recruiting much better than Willingham, so ND's improvement should continue. The decision to let Willingham go was almost assuredly a tough one for ND, as ND hadn't fired a coach in quite a long time and Willingham is a first-class individual. However, sometimes a school needs to make a tough decision, and in ND's case, it appears to have been the right one. Letting Dorrell go in favor of a top-notch head coach or offensive/defensive coordinator (preferably with some NFL experience) would be the right decision in UCLA's case too.
Dorrell is a nice guy, but is clearly underqualified for a Division I coaching job, particularly at such a school that once had a proud program....

I am a Chancellors Associate but am considering withdrawing my contributions if Karl Dorrell is not fired.

Fire Durrell...the sooner the better. Please consider the following coach's with proven experience and records. #1-Steve Mariuchi #2-Norm Chow #3-Mike Martz
NEEDS TO GO BEFORE DEC.2!!!!!!
Firing Dorrell is only half the answer. It does no good to jump into the same boat by hiring the next "Karl Dorrell" and giving him 4 years to hopefully right the ship. I really don't blame Dorrell. I feel sorry for him. He's in way over his head and often times looks visibly lost on the sidelines. But he was offered the job, why wouldn't he take it? Well we deserve better! With our location, facilities, talent pool, and tradition, there is no reason why we can't attract a proven winner, either from the college ranks or the pros. The move must be made immediately, no later than his next loss which is certain to come against OSU and/or ASU. The timing is perfect, while he is on a horrible losing streak and while we still have time to regroup as a unit to take on SC. Another loss against the Trojans cannot be beared. But at the same time, one win against a beatable Trojan team cannot save his job. Make the move before that possibility becomes an issue. Please make this the last year I ever have to hope for Bruin losses! Restore us to what we were and beyond! Wake me up for Midnight Madness.

It's time for a change and someone who will show emotion.
I am a Coaches Roundtable member and all of the other CRT's I have talked to want Dorrell fired. I know it will be difficult to do, but you will be glad you did once it is done. Thank you Dr. Tamura

LET HIM GO!!!
I graduated from UCLA with an MBA in 1994. I now live in Columbus Ohio and am witness week in and week out as to what a real national powerhouse looks like. This is not it. Find a coach that knows how to win.
Dorrell has lost the confidence of the fans. Even when the team is ahead by a few points, there is the feeling in the stands that we are going to blow the game, and it always happens. And when we are only down a few points with a lot of time left, we all expect the team to lose the lead, and we do. This is the worst possible thing that can happen to a coach. No one has any faith in him and we constantly expect the worst.

Yes dump him, we would like to have a winning coach, no offense

I am a masters student right now, and you can guarantee that when I become an alumni, I will not donate one dime to this football program if Karl Dorrell is still head coach.
UCLA deserves better.

Karl Dorrell's incompetency as a leader reflects poorly upon all UCLA alumni. This embarrassment has continued for too long. My complaint is not that we are losing games. My complaint is that Karl Dorrell is a terrible leader. He blaims the players for the losses. His gameplay strategy is poor and has not adjusted to the needs of the situation. He appears apathetic during a situation of defeat. This is not the person I want setting an example to the nation of the kind of leadership skills UCLA produces and tolerates. Please get us a real leader. Remember, "the fish rots from the head down." Eventually the finger will have to be pointed at you. UCLA, class of 2001. Go Bruins!!
