15 Dorrel will never be a top Division I football coach. UCLA is one of the top universities in the world . No reason that football should be second fiddle. As long as Dorrel is the coach I will not donate money to my alma mater. I will not buy season tickets as I once had. Until Dorrel is removed and replaced by a top coach such as Butch Davis Los Angeles will belong to USC. last years 10-2 record was a mirage made obvious by the two disastrous humiliating losses. No REAL 10-2 team has losses like that. Fire Dorrel or face the consequences of perenial mediocrity.

18 I completely agree with the sentiment of this letter. It is clear that Karl Dorrell was not and is not ready to be a head coach at the most athletically competitive university in the nation. His play calling is poor, he and his coaches are often outschemed (even by lesser opponents), and his teams are consistently unprepared. This leads to all-too-close games, perenial upsets of our team (Fresno State '03, Wyoming '04, Arizona '05 just to name some of the most glaring), and complete blowouts: 4 losses by 18 points or more in 2003, a 17 point loss to Cal in 2004, a 38 point loss to Arizona and 47 point loss to USC in 2005, and now a 22 point loss to a not so strong WSU at home! Karl Dorrel's record as a UCLA coach is currently 6-7, 6-6, 10-2, and 4-4. If it weren't for last second heroics from NFL players Maurice Drew, Marcedes Lewis, and Drew Olson (2/3 having been Toledo recruits, and Maurice Drew having followed Bienemy to UCLA), our record last season would have been 6-6, which would have been a more accurate representation of how well the team played. Let's be honest, that 10-2 was probably the ugliest 10-2 season registered by a football team. I'm pretty sure I'm not alone when I say that I am not satisfied with 6 win seasons followed by a flukish year where we end up 10-2 and finish 3rd place in the Pac-10. At UCLA we demand more. We're on the verge of 100 national championships, and every other sport at UCLA is competitive year in and year out. In our other sports we are disappointed if we dont win the Pac-10 title, and we are expected to make it to the championship game. In football we celebrate "moral victories" which is just a nice way to say we didn't take what was ours. We need a change, we need a new system, we need a new coach.

30 Hi Dan, as a 4th-year UCLA student and lifelong UCLA Fan (grew up in a UCLA Family), I have to say that our boys out there deserve a better chance than this. KD doesn't give them a chance to win, and you know that even without "elite talent" there are many, many coaches out there who could do a much better job that he has and will do. As the saying goes, "If a dog's going to hunt, it'll hunt as a pup." Karl Dorrell does not have "it" and he never will have "it." I though you wanted a coach who "fired out?" Well, to be honest, I haven't seen a single game where a KD coached team "fired out." In four years. I can't say much more than what is already stated above, but please, please, consider making a "short list" and relieving us of the Karl Dorrell era as soon as possible.
31 Please get a coach that has guts.
32 Dorell must go. He is not ready for this Job.

37 As a student, I have been very disappointed by the lack of consistency on our team's part. We are tired of having a complete lack of confidence in KD and Svoboda. We are tired of lacking any energy before the games because we know that a loss against ANY team is a possibility. We are tired of ludicrously stupid decisions on our coach's part. We are tired of realizing that even our friends whom know nothing about football can easily detect his erraneous philosophy.

41 Dear Mr. Guerrero, I want to be clear that my displeasure in the status of UCLA's football team is not only about winning and losing; it is about installing an atmosphere that strives to excellence. Whereas I believe Karl Dorrell is wonderful at focusing on excellence outside of the football field, I do not believe his demeanor, nor skills, enable him to do so on the field. The losses to ND, Oregon and WSU, while painful due to their outcome, were more painful to me due to the reasons for the outcome--lack of adequate preparation, lack of a scheme that maximizes the ability of the players on the roster, and an attitude focusing on 'not losing' as opposed to winning. At present, I cannot see these factors changing, as they are, I believe, endemic to Mr. Dorrell's personality. As such, I believe a change is necessary; one in which excellence is strived for, and achieved, at the alma mater of both my undergraduate and graduate degrees. Best regards, Jaime Goldfarb, Ph.D. (proudly attained at UCLA)

45 I have met Karl, very nice gentleman. Unfortunetely we are all evaluated on progress and results and he is not meeting the programs goals when he was hired.....contend for Pac 10 championships and play in BCS bowl.

47 Why isn't the football program "worth it" to hire a coach, with a proven track record, in a year where the fallout would be the least in recruiting and otherwise. Are UCLA football fans simply not worth it?
