carla Wiggett | I have fond memories of the Duke of Lancaster as a child and whizzing past on the train on the way to Llandudno, it was only this year I managed to get up close and show it my children who were as fasinated as I was, something must be able to be done to turn her into a Welsh Landmark for all to enjoy.

Anonymous | This ship needs attention as soon as possible. To keep her stable in this location, the hull has a very large amount of ballast concreted in. The void below the lowest deck is filled (and sealed by the above) with a large amount of contaminated liquid (oil?) and will eventually escape through the failing hull causing a mini (by exon valdiz standards) environmental disaster. Who should be prosecuted if this happens?

Anonymous | My father owns this ship. it was intended to be a leisure complex. It was hoped that 300 local jobs would be created, but there was vicious opposition from the local council, and as a consequence the ship had to close. My father is interested in the ship and for me, its part of my childhood. My father spends a fortune trying to prevent it being vandalised.
karl | Don't let this ship go to scrap
Jeremy Burton | Would be shame to see this ship scrapped, anything I can do to help save it please get in touch
DavidShimmin | It need a good panting
Dee rivaz | Since I arrived in this part of the world, I've been fascinated by this extraordinary landmark that must hold so much history for so many people. I hope that a miracle happens and that it is saved as a piece of social history treasure.
King Al | Save the boat
Peter King | It'd be criminal to lose her. This Liverpool firm of shits who have left her to rot should be forced to give her up. Get the Lottery to fund her restoration.

| 165 | Adam Corkill | Hello all,
I have created a new group to share stories, history and pictures of the ship-

Many Thanks

Anonymous | Lovely ship that should be saved. It's lasted this long and deserves better than ending it's day's on the Indian beaches.
Alyn Smith |
Anonymous | keep her!
Norman Graham | Times running out, this could be one for time team 2020, searching the estuary for rust particles that once formed this great ship. it cant be allowed to happen, the last of the packet steamers. lets get somthing done!!
Jason Bellis Jones |
john pickles | dont let this ship die
Rob Pyatt | Recently saw the ship for the first time from a passing train and became very interested. Everything possible must be done to save her from further deterioration. She's unique and irreplaceable.I have happy memories of sailing on similar ships in my younger days.
Kat Coleman | Please please please dont sell this wonderful landmark for scrap. I love taking the very very long route home from north wales just to see it. I remember it as a child and would love nothing more than to see it restored.
Anonymous | WHY DONT YOU TRY TO RESTORE THE SHIP.

Phil Colebrook | Save this ship! It is unique. Too much of Britain's maritime heritage has been lost (witness the Windsor Castle ending up on the beaches of Alang, or the loss of the QE2 to Dubai.)
keith connock |
shirley mclaughlin | my father served on this ship during the world war 2 , when it was commissioned as a hospital ship
Tatina Paddington | As a child I remembered being taken regularly to a sunday market and being fascinated by this magnificent ship! I could never remember where it was and only found this website by typing a search for "sunday market by old cruise ship"!! I was always amazed by it - it desperately needs saving!!
Christine Slimm | This should stay because the market is named after the Ship and it looks nice when I pass it.
| 181 | Kevan Platts | S.O.S! Save our ship please.
Flatten the market and put in a proper approach to her. Gain lottery funding and use her properly as a maritime museum and restore her to her former glory and beauty, before its too late. |

Matt | I have known of this wonderful ship for some time and actualy visited her recently.A sad and lonely place for such a proud and handsome ship.I think its only a matter of time before she is sadly broken but obviously if there is a chance of saving her that would be wonderful
John Lewis | Yes indeed, this beautiful ship must be saved! I have fond memories of travelling on her as a child, and always enjoy seeing her from the train window these days - still a very handsome ship despite her condition! It would be a tragedy to see her scrapped.

mick webster-payne | save this ship ive been posting my views and comments on this ship in the ask a local forum on the bbc wales page and will come to any meeting you care to hold.
Anonymous | It's a crying shame to see such waste, it could be resored to a former glory, if too expensive, it could be turned into a leisure facitily- ie clear the decks - resturant, club etc would bring money into the area, if nothing more a tourist attraction.

dave massey | yes this would be well worth saving, lottery grant would be better spent on this, rather than some stupid ballet company, or such meaningless causes.
ian carter | I have lived in mostyn for 15 years and that ship is a part of mostyn itself.
Anonymous | My late uncle, Neville Stirzaker, was a captain of this ship serving the Heysham-Belfast routes and as a cruise ship. I agree that the Lancaster should be preserved, much in the same way as is given to historical buildings which are part of the British heritage.
jim heyes | i love this ship and have walked past her many times.
gareth perks | hi we are setting up a meeting mid to late feb at Llanerch-y-mor for the duke we will try to get the local council and the owners to join in would anyone be intrested in this meeting if so please contact me gareth perks perkgareth@aol.com
