Drive Thru Petition

I’ve read the facts and,

  • Whereas there is no evidence of any environmental benefit from a ban on drive thrus operations, and
  • Whereas the peer reviewed RWDI study indicates that banning drive thrus will lead to more emissions from cars in congested parking lots, bigger parking lots and more stores with added traffic congestion; and
  • Whereas drive-thrus are a vital access point for the disabled, seniors, and parents with small children, and
  • Whereas drive thrus are especially helpful in bad weather for people who cannot move around easily, and
  • Whereas drive thrus enhance personal safety in unfamiliar areas late at night.

I oppose the move by Comox Town Council to impose a drive through ban on most of the town of Comox and strongly oppose any move to impose a moratorium on drive thrus in Comox. Comox has sufficient planning controls to deal with any site specific issues on any one site.
