The minimum drinking age for this country is 21. This is not fair and should be lowered. Alcohol should be legal for purchase and consumption at the age of 18 for the following reasons: 18 year olds are old enough to fight and die for their countries so they should be able to drink. 18 year olds are old enough to smoke cigarettes, but not drink. The alcohol industry would get bigger and provide more jobs. The government could benefit from taxes with increased sales. Most other countries have it at 18 for a reason, we should too. Drinking alcohol has medical benefits like the prevention of heart disease by the thinning of the blood. These reasons are enough to prove that the drinking age should be lowered to 18.
