| 569 | Julia Ehrhardt | Andrew, you are an ideal candidate to help OK move into the 21st century. Please consider a run for the senate. Please also fix the typo in the petition text so that the campaign can avoid embarrassment--"it's" in the last part of the last sentence should be "its." |
| 570 | Anonymous | Sen. Rice,
I share your values. In these times, unfortunately, it is often simply not enough to declare your opinion as an American without having your motives questioned as being part of the right demographic. group - in other words, some people's opinions count more than others' because of the demographic group they are placed in. With that in mind and with the hope that each individual's opinion does matter, I would like you to know I fit the typical demographic stereotype of a Republican in this state with the exception that I share your values toward decency, the worth of the individual, individual rights, and optimism. I am a Democrat and I'm not ashamed of it. I am not a Democrat because of social pressures or blind obedience to a party or group. I am a Democrat because the party fits me better than the available alternatives. Those values we share are the foundations of our democracy. Fear, ignorance, and crisis are not democratic values.
I am seasoned enough to know that our values are too often disparaged as naive, liberal, socialist, or cynically dismissed otherwise. I have put much thought into this over the years and I reached the conclusion at the height of the hysteria exacerbated by the actions of the corporate media, the President, and many of our elected representatives that there are two things that would stop this. One is that the house of cards would fall when reality set in. The second is that we can not be fearful or think it is difficult to express our opinions when we are confronted with these forces of cynicism and fear.
I recently read a quote that stated, " What would you do if you weren't afraid?"
That has resonated with me since. My hope is that you will continue to fight the good fight whether you choose to run for U.S. Senate or not. Your efforts to protect the rights of and provide opportunities for each individual are appreciated, are important regardless of how "small" the action may seem, and are essential.
I was pleased when you announced your support for Senator Obama and I agreed with him when he said in OKC at the rally we attended that politics is not game.
With what time and little money I have left over, I will do what I can to support your candidacy as long as you continue to fight fear, ignorance, and hysteria with patience, knowledge, and respect for the individual.
I think you have an opportunity to show the people of Oklahoma that our values are their values and that a smart optimism can defeat cynicism and fear. As one person, whose opinion matters no more than any other's, I strongly encourage you to run. |
| 571 | Josh Hammers | Its time for a change! |
| 572 | Larry Lawyer | I was an early supporter of Andrew in his first campaign. I was in Iraq at the time. I am very excited about the possibility of him running against Inhofe, who is truly an embarasment not only to OK but the entire country. GO Andrew!! |
| 573 | frank silovsky | Andrew is the brightest light on the Democratic side of our state. He has the moxey to successfully challenge Inhofe on every important issue. Andrew will take Inhofe apart with an exquisite gracefullness that will be recognized and appreciated by a majority of voting Oklahomans. |

| 583 | Joan Richardson | We need real representation in Washington. We need a representative who is actually aware of the needs of Oklahomans and the reality of our climate crisis. I am embarrassed for Oklahomans when I see Sen. Inhoffe on the Daily Show! |
