| 1458 | Richard | Knab MD | NH | US | Two medications may be effective for gastroparesis (delayed emptying of the stomach which can lead to pain, vomiting, and malnutrition). One is available in this country and one is not. The available one can cause very worriome neurologic changes from insomnia and twitching to a permanent condition much like Parkinsonism. Domperidone does not cause any of these adverse reactions and I feel it is my ethical duty as a physician to assist patients in obtaining domeperidone instead of Reglan. Unfortunately many of my patients on medical assistance cannot afford the out of pocket expense of domperidone while they can get Reglan "free". |
