what is a person with
gastropareis supposed to do when the drug approved in u.s. is reglan and is causing drug induced parkinsons?
domperidone does not cause these problems because it does not cross the blood brain
barrier. reglan is recommended for short term use, gastroparesis calls for a drug that can be
used on long-term basis
without these side effects. domperidone does
not cross the blood brain
barrier and cause this
terrible condition and
has been used safely in
other countries for several years sucessfully for gastroparesis. there is no reason it should not be approved for
people with motility problems.

| 467 | penny | davis | | CA | This is a safe drug when used orally. For Mum's who have tried everything else, this is a valuable last resort. Women will continue to buy this drug online and perhaps not dose themselves properly. Also they may not be aware of interactions with drugs, foods, herbs and medical diseases they already have or are taking. Let this drug be prescribed in a controlled manner after all other methods to increase breast milk production have failed. Give women the chance to provide breast milk for their babies, to enhance health, growth and development, which in future will decrease the burden placed on the health care system.
Many Thanks

| 478 | Kimberly | Goldberg | UT | US | Domperidone has an approved use in other countries, for GI motility, and has proven to be safer than alot of the approved drugs in this country. It is horrifying that the FDA has made this move to stop American citizens from importing this drug for their own personal use. It is not a controled substance. We are slowly becoming a facist state. Free market? They have us fooled, we are mere children needing protection for ourselves, we cannot be trusted to take control of our own bodies, me must let the government do it for us. For our own safety? No, it is inorder to help line their friends' pockets.
I am a NICU RN, we prescribe Reglan for our breastfeeding mothers needing assistance increasing their milk supply. I am discouraged by the actions of the FDA outlawing Motilium (Domperidone) for use by breastfeeding mothers. True, it has not been aproved for this use, but neither has Reglan. Doctors in this country are still allowed to prescribe drugs for unapproved used as they see fit. I can't believe the FDA is sticking it's nose in where it doesn't belong. There is surely money motivating this move, not safety. |
| 479 | Hilary | Black | MA | US | Please allow domperidone to be used to help mothers increase their milk supply. |
| 480 | Jaime | Rios | FL | US | |
| 481 | Kay | Sophar | MD | US | I am a Certified Family Nurse Practitioner. Not only is it usefull for gastroparesis, but it is by far the safest and most usefull medication for lactation failure in breastfeeding women. |
| 482 | Ana | Casacuberta | NJ | US | As a first time mom needing help with my milk supply, I wish I could Domperidone. I tried using Reglan and had nasty side effects, so now I have to supplement my baby with formula to ensure she's got enough food. From what I understand there is no good medical reason for me not to take it other than the FDA does not allow it. I wish I could try using Domperidone so I could increase my milk production and stop giving my daughter formula. |
| 483 | Jennifer | Carroll | TX | US | |
| 484 | Veronica | Sweeney | ME | US | Having mothers using Domperidone for several years and never seeing a side effect, I was surprised by the FDA's alert. They did not speak with any lactation experts, or offer any alternatives, which are actually have more side effects and are less effective. The FDA used a study of apples to make orange juice. Please reverse this or other avenues will avail. |

| 487 | Shelley | Carter | ME | US | I think Domperidone is a miracle drug, it enables women who would not be able to exclusively breast feed the opportunity to do so. |

| 489 | Maria | Collins | MA | US | Breast is best and most pediatrician sabotage breasfeeding , it is not only harmul nutritionally for the baby but emotionally for the mother and baby . I feel this is ludicrus to not approve this wonderful medicine that can make our children get the best they deserve .. |
| 490 | Laurie | Bell | AK | US | If I had been told by my doctor how Domperidone would have helped me from the beginning of my problems with breastfeeding my first son, I would have probably been able to avoid the weight issues he had, having to supplement and inevitably have nipple confusion and then been able to nurse longer than 4 months. But because it is not "FDA Approved" she was not comfortable giving this information. With my second son, I have fore-knowledge and have had no problems breastfeeding. |
