Stop The Taxicab Monopoly In Des Moines, Iowa

PLEASE DO NOT SIGN THIS PETITION UNLESS IT IS POSSIBLE YOU MAY SOMEDAY NEED A CAB IN DES MOINES, YOU'RE A RESIDENT OF DES MOINES, OR YOU HAVE EVER USED A TAXICAB WHILE IN DES MOINES.

Please sign this petition ONLY IF you think the City of Des Moines, Iowa should LOWER the Insurance requirements for Taxicab Companies wanting to operate in Des Moines And REDUCE the number of cabs needed to operate as a fleet in The city of Des Moines. Currently The City Requires a fleet of 8 cabs and each cab needs to be insured for 1.5 MILLION DOLLARS. Compare this to New York; Taxicab Capital of the World. In New York a single Cab only needs to be insured for $80,000!!!!

One cab company currently operates in Des Moines, Iowa. This one cab company operates under two different names & Colors (Yellow & Capitol)

In my personal opinion, these restrictions were clearly set to discourage young, business minded people like myself from ever starting a business in Des Moines which would make competition for a cab company that has been favored & protected for so many years by Des Moines City Council Members.
