WHEREAS the charges against Majority Leader Tom DeLay are politically motivated attacks fueled by Campaign for America’s Future and the Public Campaign Action Fund – two leftwing front groups;
WHEREAS these political attacks are little more than the result of a frustrating failure of the political left to gain a majority in the United States House of Representatives in 1994, 1996, 1998, 2000, 2002, and 2004;
WHEREAS the vast majority of criticisms of Majority Leader Tom DeLay comes from anonymous sources and left-wing blogs such as the discredited Daily Kos;
WHEREAS an official from the Travis County, TX prosecutors office told CBSNews.com on November 22, 2004 that they had no intention of indicting Majority Leader Tom DeLay;
WHEREAS Majority Leader Tom DeLay has cooperated fully and completely with the House ethics committee;
WHEREAS according to a Houston Chronicle poll taken in April, a large majority of all voters in Majority Leader Tom DeLay’s congressional district believe he is an ethical man;
WHEREAS several members of Congress – including some Democrats – took part in the same overseas trips for which Majority Leader Tom Delay faces scrutiny;
We the undersigned urge the Democrat-controlled Travis County prosecutor’s office, the U.S. House ethics committee and all government investigative organizations to end the witch hunt, move on and publicly exonerate Majority Leader Tom DeLay. |
