603 AnonymousAnonymousI truly identify having just lost our own only progressive station in Columbus, Ohio. Please visit our petition site and see how we are fighting back and maybe sign it if you want. http://www.ohiomajorityradio.com/ We are losing progressive radio across the country and it is a darn shame because it does influence voters and how they think. Suspicious that just after 57% of Ohioans voted for democrats in November, clear channel decides to take it off claiming few people listened in their rather rude response to my letter. Clear channel saw how successful the progressive talk show hosts were in giving us the true story of the corruption etc..when they saw the superior format in using wit, sarcasm, facts and intelligent discourse instead of hatred and lack of compassion like the reps did..when they saw the Republican state of Ohio fall in November, it was then they realized it wasn't worth the advertising money they got...giving knowledge and truth to the people is a dangerous thing. When the vote went blue, they claim they lost money...when really they lost votes and the hearts and minds of the people. With democrats taking the country back, it is clear the people are open to hearing what they have to say. At one time in this country, the media presented diverse points of view. It is an insult to the voters that this is being done in Ohio, a swing state, because conservatives are desperate to retain power as well as this city. It is just like in congress they did not practice civility and bipartianship (that Bush is now seeking from democrats) and silenced congress by excluding them from meetings, so, too, do they now shut the people out by letting them only hear one voice. You can take away the media and likely will, but you cannot silence we- the people like you did our representatives because the people, united, can never be defeated. Go downtown and talk to people as I have and you will find very few into Bush and his party. We took the presidency in 2000 and 2004 and you stole both elections..but we the people will not give up. We took a stand against the war and for peace..we are a party of the people and tolerance and compassion and we do not want to hear the hatred of so many of the conservative talk show hosts. Hopefully, the corporate owned media will lose money and tick the people (the majority) off so badly for blatantly trying to control them by controlling what they hear, that they will do their best to boycott them and the corporations like Walmart's, federal express, Exxon mobile, and McDonald's and others who boycotted advertising on air America (full list here) http://www.freepress.net/news/18807 Since they have taken our vote, our remaining power is our money an how we spend and don't spend it. I hope the signers of this petition, consider boycotting the many corporations who are tax cheating, environment destroying, and job exporting as well as media propagandising and buying our politicians. We are the majority and our money is our voice. Boycott..cancel your cable too. Contact congress about breaking up media monopolies which, BTW, presidential candidate Dennis Kucinich supports. He said "I aim to promote knowledge of the public process through which citizens can challenge the licenses of local broadcast outlets failing to provide local coverage and coverage directed at the whole community, In addition to requiring free air time for political campaigns, we need to create a greater diversity of viewpoints in the media by breaking up the major media conglomerates, encouraging competition and quality as well as diversity. We should place new caps on media ownership and ban the granting of exceptions to those caps. We should limit the number of media outlets one corporation can own in a given medium, such as radio, print, or television. We should strictly prohibit cross-ownership and vertical integration." more info here http://kucinich.us/issues/media_reform (copy and paste if links don't work..sorry it would not let me space between paragraphs)
