| 163 | JAMES ALLEN | Install a Stop sign on the southbound lane of Jimmy Durante Blvd.
This is a very dangerous intersection.
I'm sorry to hear a man was killed here.
Why wasn't something done sooner?
Why wait for anymore killings in Del Mar??? |

| 165 | Anonymous | Do we have to wait for a tragedy to occur? Let's do the right thing and correct this situation before it's too late. |

| 171 | scott parker | yes i know the spot well. it is also even more difficult as the hill has already begun and you have no momentum to break across. it is one of the most dangerous spots on the coastal ride. coming back the other way and crossing over is bad as well |
| 172 | Ann Leath | This has been critically dangerous for many years.
Who yields to whom? and When?
Very Scary and life-threatening. |
| 173 | Anonymous | Thank you for your urgent attention to this matter. Our safety is at risk. |

| 183 | Stephen Stewart | I bike commute to work on a regular basis from Carlsbad to Sorrento Valley and routinely have to fight traffic at this dangerous merge. I support this petition to make conditions safer for bicyclists. |

| 187 | Darryl MacKenzie | I have pedaled through this intersection hundreds of times. It is one of the most terrifying intersections on the PCH in San Diego County. The city of Del Mar would be doing a wonderful service to transportation in the city to implement the solution above.

| 192 | Ron Lacey | This merge has been a constant issue for cyclist and cars alike.
It's about time that someone gets pro-active with this crossing before someone gets killed (again). |
| 193 | John T. Murphy | I would suggest that any signs on Jimmy Durante instruct motorists to "yield to cyclists." I cycle commute past this merge 3-5 days a week. In my experience most motorists do yield to me on my bike. However, whenever I am in doubt that this will be the case I proceed along the dashed white line between lanes. This can be unnerving and I am often forced to stay between lanes for over 100 feet, many times with cars passing me on both sides. If there were a mutual understanding that cars yielded to bikes there would be less confusion and the intersection would be safer for all.
A yield to bikers is certainly preferable to a mere warning that bikes are present, from a bike safety point of view. Also a yield may be more acceptable to motorists than a stop sign since they would not be oligated to stop everytime they work thier way up the hill. I recommend keeping the "yield" option in mind in the event our safety as cyclists is perceived as less important than maintaining traffic flow. As those of us on two wheels know, drivers can be peculiar that way. |
| 194 | Margaret McCloskey | I am not a resident of Del Mar, but I am a San Diego County resident who frequently rides in Del Mar. You need to do all you can to make your community as safe as possible for pedestrians, bicyclists and motor vehicles alike. |
| 195 | Eric Pilmore | IMO, the only option is #1. We need a definitive stop sign there. Although even a stop sign does not eliminate the need for a cyclist to turn around and ensure nobody is running the stop sign, it would reduce the risk. |

| 197 | Michael Ash | Agree this needs to be fixed.. |
| 198 | Damon Poor | this is a very dangerous area. On more than one occasion I have proceeded not seeing any traffic on Jimmy Durante only to have someone suddenly appear at obviously a higher rate of speed than what is posted. |
