Studies have shown that animals sterilized at an early age exhibit an extended growth period.
An immaturity of the external sex organs has led to concern about an increased risk of urinary infections in overweight males.
Atrophic vaginitis may occur in female dogs sterilized before the first heat cycle, as the girl thingyl lining is thinner and therefore more susceptible to infections.
Surgery during the impressionable "fear"stage (6-8 weeks) is for many a cause for concern. Pre-anesthetic medication and a smooth anesthetic induction are crucial to the reduction of stress.
We believe that spaying and neutering by breeders in England, of pups under the age of 6 months is being done to controll their selling power. Certain types of breeds in the uk are quite rare and difficult to find. By spaying and neutering this is stopping the chances of other people becoming breeders and therefore limiting the market to themselves , with out a thought for the pup. This operation doesnt need to happen , contracts could be made to say that it will take place at a more appropriate time for the dog i.e. after 1 year old when the dogs hormones have had a chance to develop. A dog desexed as young as 8 weeks old is neither male or female you might as well rename them S/hims. Please help us stop this happening to our young pups they deserve to have a gender too. We will be sending this petition to the British vets Association and to whom ever else can help. Thankyou for your time. |
