The petition

Stray, abandoned and owner-surrendered pets that are picked up in Richland County are held for five (5) days at county-leased Critter Cabin on Two Notch Road prior to being transferred for euthanasia. (Traci, please confirm items in red to be true).

Until recently, area rescue groups have been allowed to remove pets from county-leased Critter Cabin for adoption through their individual organizations, resulting in hundreds of saved pets over time. That is, until the numerous complaints recently aired against Critter Cabin for the appalling conditions and treatment of homeless pets. In retaliation for these complaints, the county has now closed Critter Cabin’s door to outside rescue groups who would otherwise save many of these helpless animals. So, instead of allowing local rescue groups to save as many pets as possible, this action has dictated that all pets be marked and transferred for euthanasia.

As a tax payer and animal lover, you have a voice. Show your support. Please sign the below petition and forward to your friends to help us:

Insist that the county immediately re-open county-leased Critter Cabin to the various area rescue groups who can resume saving as many homeless pets as possible.

Urge that County Council immediately resolve a more suitable alternative holding facility for these homeless pets.

The animals have no voice. We are their only voice. Sign and forward TODAY!
