Taxpayers Information Petition
We, the undersigned residents of Georgia oppose the Commuter Rail project as proposed. The debate for and against has waged for many years and there is still too many unanswered questions. Local municipalities are being asked to sign 50 year contracts to pay shortfalls in operation expense with no financial limits or controls. In addition, the community has not been informed of property tax increases as well as the actual cost to ride the train ($11.20 roundtrip from Lovejoy and $11.50 from Hampton). The Attorney Generals office has recently ordered the Georgia Department of Transportation to release contract documents and we believe ALL documents must be released to the public for review, analysis, and discussion. We believe this is taxation without representation and support a voter referendum before implementation of this project. |
