Bev Kissinger | I am very saddened by the news that childrens services are going back to McFD. It is crucial that families and induviduals with developmental disabilites have acceess to lifelong services. THE Trasistion steering committee Childrens committee spent many hours making recommendations - the services belong with CLBC!! The only real issue here is that money is needed for children wth disabilties and their families not for roads to the Olympics!!

Anonymous | I BELIEVE THAT COMMUNITY LIVING BC (CLBC) SHOULD PROVIDE A LIFELONG, SEAMLESS SYSTEM OF SUPPORT FOR CHILDREN AND YOUTH WITH SPECIAL NEEDS WHO HAVE A DEVELOPMENTAL DISABILITY, ADULTS WITH A DEVELOPMENTAL DISABILITY, AND THEIR FAMILIES.
Gail Pettinger | The time of life transitioning from the teenage years to adult years is even more challenging for our special needs sons and daughters. This is a time when there are so many changes anyways. They leave a school environment and often their home situation changes as a result of that. Please reconsider your decision and add staff positions instead of splitting the portfolios.
Anonymous | As a father of a 15 year old with autism this represents a change that will only make his transition into adulthood more difficult for him and our family.

Clive Burge | Having gone through the experince of the transitioning of my severly disabled sone from youth to adult programs I am very concernded that this divsion of services will further exacerabate what is currently a less than ideal system. I would seriously reconsider this approach. Or provide robust mechanisms that ensure this transition has the least impact on the unfortunate families who have deal with the very many issues affecting their child and which can have a siginificant negative impact on their health and wellbeing during this time.

Leanne Johnson | It is critical that families with children with special needs continue to receive flawless, consistent service throughout the lifespan. Caring for a child with special needs does not stop when they are 19 yrs old. Families are exhausted and burning out. Respite needs are at an all time high and the demand for service is greater than ever!

I'm a parent who has been through all your shuffles, name changes, department switches, local moves etc. that I no longer even know who to contact or where they are located --maybe that's your goal! Get it right and quit messing with clients and staff! |
