Traffic in the Upper Clapton area is often congested, with serious speeding problems in some of the residential streets.
We believe that Hackney Council should extend traffic calming measures to include the eastern end of Evering Road, and surrounding residential streets. There have been a number of speeding-related incidents leading to parked cars being damaged, and it's surely only a matter of time before someone is seriously injured.
Additionally, we believe that more effort must be made to keep the bus lanes clear; the Upper Clapton Road is a major bus route, and parking in the bus lanes often causes problems. The lanes are already marked as a red route, but this is useless without proper enforcement action being taken.
In order that enforcement of red route parking restrictions does not unduly affect the local businesses, we also call upon Hackney Council to take advantage of the extremely wide pavements along some parts of the Upper Clapton Road to provide a limited number of red route parking bays. |
