104 Lucia MezaClackamasOR97015I feel that naming this street Cesar E. Chavez will bring light to figures kids everywhere can look up to. Mr. Chavez's example taught us how to fight through non-violence, a lesson that in the midst of this war we can all benefit from.

112 AnonymousAnonymousNY10001This would send a great message to all youth around the country to embrace the latino heritage in America but also to inspire young people to continue defending the American DREAM!
113 Ana SanchezWoodburnOregon97071I think that it is very important that we name a street after him. He was a great leader and he should be honored for the selflessness sacrifice that he made for others. I believe that he was a great influence in many peoples lives.

124 AnonymousAnonymousOR97219He was a great man. It would be a way to honor him and his wonderful work for the workers/farm workers. I am all for the name change of Interstate Avenue to CeSar E Chavez Boulevard.
125 AnonymousAnonymousOregon97233It will be a great honor to change the name. I have lived in Portland all my life and Interstate has a bad reputation. Hopefully the name changing will lift the people and give more opportunity for minortiy and people of color in the state of Oregon.

148 Danny BellPortlandOregon97211The agriculture industry employes more workers than any other industry in the United Staes. Yet in still in the 21st century its workers often times live in conditions are simialar to that of slaves in the 18th and 19th centuries. The term "cognitive dissonance is defined as when a person's perception of themselves as being a decent and caring human is in conflict when that person or person demonstrates in deed egergious acts of inhumanity toward another human. In many cases it called the status quo. Rather than honor Mr. Chaves an icon of the civil rights movement, many conservatives ( especially business persons) would prefer to save money on stationary rather than do the right thing. It is cumbent upon all of us who have a sense for what is just and fair to do what we can to lend dignity to the warriors who preceded before us in the fight for the triumph of the human spirit and the inherent nobilty that lies with the heart of Man. I spport the name change of Interstate Ave. to Cesar Chavez Blvd. Dan Bell, Publisher Beloved Community Jouranl
149 Jack HerbertPortlandOR97225What we name our streets shows our values, if we have them. Airport, commercial, etc... When we name them after people who have devoted their lives to human rights for those who are oppressed, we keep reminding outselves of our most important value.
