453 YeseniaCorvallisOregon97331I strongly agree to have an Avenue with Cesar Chavez' name. Ii will be an honor, as well as a recognition for what he did for farmworkers.
454 Yesenia ChavezWoodburnOregon97071This is a good, campaign for the Latino community!! It is also an excellent step into welcoming the Latino Community. Keep up the good work!!!

465 KeylaMcMinnvilleOregon97128We do live here, we do work here and pay our taxes regardless of what the media and ignorant people say. We need representation and we want it now.
466 Stephanie TellisFairviewOregon97024I have lived in Portland for most of my life. I was born here and love my city. I live in Fairview now however I'm always in Portland for business, family, and church. I think it's important that everyones culture is recognized. Lord knows this city needs some help in that department. As a black woman I think our community is a little lopsided in that area.

470 AliciaPortlandOR97211I hope that this community can learn to listen. Thank you Mayor Potter, for providing an example that you do not have to be Latino to understand why this is important, why Cesar Chavez is for everyone, for justice. I have lived in Portland for 30 years, and this is reminding me of how Portland reacted to proposals to change Union Ave to MLK Blvd. I can't believe my eyes and ears. I thought we had grown. Having to change business cards and clinging to a not-so-inclusive town history are poor reasons to marginalize an entire group in our community. It is NEVER too late for progress.
471 Ben GuzmanPortlandOregon97292Interstate, a main blvd with great visibility in the city of Portland here you will find folks who value their heritage, and are willing to work together to better their neighborhood. Take for example the construction of the light rail project (IMAX) was built by the community with local organized union labor. My friends this is exactly what Cesar E. Chaves stood for, until his death, and is why I strongly support the renaming of this boulevard. Ben Guzman

473 Tomas CervantesSalemOregon97305I would cordially ask the Portland City Council to reconsider their position in providing great humanitary leaders be honored but also to continue to provide the community with role models that made a difference to the U.S. in the Labour Movement. We need these role models for our youth who are being displaced with Materialism.
474 CristalWoodburnOregon97071I am a college student at Western Oregon University. i may not be from portland but i am in support of this change. Cesar Chavez means so much to the latino community and to me as well. I would love to see the name change.

494 AnonymousAnonymousOR97333This is definitely DISCRIMINATORY - we have SEVERAL Martin Luther King Blvd.s, why is there an issue with a hispanic individual having that same honor????
495 Juana Montes-RomeroSalemOregon97317I believe that name this street by the name of Cesar E. Chavez is such an honor. Cesar E. Chavez was such a great leader through the eyes of many people, I see this as an opportunity for the Latinos to shine and be proud of who we are! There is nothing wrong with wanting such a great name for this street when there are names of roads and streets out there that really have NO MEANING. Juana Montes- Romero
