KEEP COTTONFLOWER KIDS AT DESERT THUNDER!

We are having a BIG problem in our community with the Avondale Elementary School District. We are located in the Cottonflower development, which is located Between Cotton Lane and Citrus Road then from Yuma Road and Buckeye Road. There are roughly 350 kindergarten through eighth grade children affected in this area. 23 children have been shipped to a different school for the last three years (Wildflower, Desert Star, Desert Thunder). 111 children have been shipped to a different school for the last two years (Desert Star and Desert Thunder). The Avondale district is now proposing that we move yet again to a new school that is being built (Centerra Mirage) roughly three miles away. There are three schools that are closer to our community than the new school that is being built. It does not make sense to move our children AGAIN to this new school. It is not fair to our children whatsoever. We should be able to keep our children in the school closest to the community. We have no school proposed for our community, nor any schools being built nearby for roughly five years. The district seems interested in keeping communities together more than anything else even if it means moving our Cottonflower community from school to school. This is unacceptable and needs to be stopped. This issue should be addressed before any proposals are accepted by the Avondale School District. Cottonflower is not going anywhere; and our community needs to feel assured that we can call a school "home" .
