CONNIE MORRIS, a candidate for the 5th District of the Kansas State Board of Education (KSBOE), opposes state-funding of education for children of undocumented immigrants despite a Supreme Court ruling to the contrary.
We demand that Connie Morris remove her name from the November 2002 ballot and/or resign immediately from her position on the Kansas State Board of Education. Her comments regarding immigrant children are outrageous and wrong on so many levels.
Kansas Families United for Public Education feels it is unconscionable on the most basic level of morality, to seek to deny children an education based on decisions made by their parents. A U.S. Supreme Court decision handed down more than 20 years ago prevents the state school board from issuing such a ban. However, Connie Morris has vowed to fight that ruling, and if she assumes her seat on the Board will seek to remove state-funding. |
