| 1402 | Diane L. Zook | Our hospital in Tacoma, Washington, begins screening newborns, using pulse oximetry, for congenital heart defects in Feb 2008. |
| 1403 | Chasity Winningham | My 5 yr old son was born w/ a CHD, I use a pulse oximeter every day to test him, these things are so easy and THEY HELP! Greatest purchase I ever made was buying one of these simple machines! |

| 1406 | Allison Pickett | My son was diagnosed with EA at 1 day old. |
| 1407 | Diana Pierce | It sounds so simple and so non-invasive that it boggles my mind that this isn't a routine procedure -- especially on infants who have a familial or hereditary history of heart disease. |

| 1412 | Tracy Mazzei | I am a mother of a child unknowingly born with a CHD(TAPVR) that was severe, life-threatening and undiagnosed until 7 weeks of age. It is heart-wrenching for me to think of all the nights he could have gone to sleep and not woken up(and probably been considered a SIDS baby) before we knew of his condition. What's even worse is that had that happened, a non-invasive, simple test could have provided us with information regarding his physical condition before he left the hospital after his birth. |
| 1413 | Nancy Hauskins DuBois | I have a son with CHD who was fortunate to be born at Vanderbilt Hospital and is doing well.
My nephew was born elsewhere, 2 years later, and his CHD went undetected. He died at 15 days old.
Early detection can mean life or death - just do it. |

| 1421 | Yvonne Hazel | If this test was performed on my daughter at birth it wouldn't have taken three years of misdiagnoses for the doctors to figure out she had CHD |

| 1424 | Jim Owen | In support of those whose lives have been directly and indirectly affected by the diagnosis of CHDs, the use of pulse oximetry could be and should be part of the newborn screening panel. I join with others urging this be implemented today. |
| 1425 | Owen White | This test can benefit a lot of children and families as well as the insurance companies. With an early detection, this can eliminate major surgeries and interventions that might be needed as it might be too late at that point. |

| 1429 | Christin Daniels | My son was born w/ tga. I didn't know untill he passed out in my arms and was on the verge of dying at 7 days old. If the hospital would of checked his o2 levels before we went home, they would of seen they were extremely low. IF there is a way to prevent this from happening to anyone , then by God I hope the Dr.'s start to order every infant to be checked! |

| 1445 | Sara Journagin | My daughter was born with single ventricle. We did not know it. At two weeks old in the nicu at midnight she was diagnosed. We were given very weak odds of survival. My little girl had her third and hopefully last open heart surgery in Oct 07. When we took her home, from the nicu she was in congestive heart failure! Imagine going through that with your new born baby! |
