CGM of any kind is lifechanging. To many of us diabetics injections are less tiresome than finger/arm sticks. Knowing my trends, low or high has enabled me to completely manage my life and see the actual effect of carbs etc on my body. | 2487 | Anonymous | My 19 year old son has had diabetes for 12 years and has used a Medtronic pump since March of 2007 and received a CGM transmitter and sensors in Aug of 2008. BCBS of Iowa provided benefits. He received one more box of sensors and insurance is now denying coverage of any more. We are working on another appeal. I think they mistakenly approved the transmitter and two boxes of sensors. He was very pleased with how easy it became to monitor his blood sugars. He always kept pretty tight control and the insurance company wants him to have a bad A1C or hypos to possibly approve again. Frustrating. As a mother it is hard to see your child have to fight every day to stay healthy. | IA | Blue Cross Blue Shield of Iowa |

| 2489 | Robert M. Rodd | It is a travesty that a device that could help so many people has been denied so many times. I know I am not alone in feeling that if a CGMS could help me, then who else could it help? These insurance companies should be ashamed of themselves for denying this device for so long. | MA | Blue Cross Blue Shield of Massachusetts |

| 2499 | Cameron Paul Williams | Both my mother and brother have Type 1 Diabetes. Unfortunately, my mother is on disability and cannot afford to buy one out of her pocket. I doubt many people would be able to buy one. Insurance companies should cover these new technologies to help save them and our country money through preventing complications. It would surely help my mother normalize her blood sugar and live a longer life. Unfortunately, she found out she had diabetes at a young age in the 60s and has suffered through the dark ages of diabetes health care. My older brother has been blessed with all the discoveries that were made before he became a diabetic. I look forward to the day both will have an easier and more enjoyable life. | AL | Blue Cross Blue Shield |
