| 2378 | Emily | Kudos for getting this petition going. Cannot say enough about the unfairness of not having this promising diabetes improvement covered by insurance. It is an outrage. Been dealing with Type 1 since I turned 21 years old (am currently 52). Estimate a probable 20000 insulin injections so far in my lifetime. Have been on the pump for the past six years, and it has been a godsend. Look forward to being able to control my blood sugar much better once the CGMS is approved by insurance. The technology has been available for a while now. | KY | Have sent a letter to Blue Cross Blue Shield (was mailed almost two months ago) pleading with them to start coverage. Still have not heard. |
| 2379 | Cheryl Roemer | PA | Aflac |
| 2380 | Jennifer Isaacs | My four-year-old was diagnosed 02/18/2008. I have found out that our insurance company does not provide coverage for CGMs. I feel that my daughter really needs a CGM, because she is not able to communicate with us whether she is high or low. Just the other day, she had a BG of 45, and we would not have known if it were not for doing a random BG on her. | OH | Alliance Partners |
| 2381 | Billie Krieger | NV | TriWest/Tricare |
| 2382 | Edwin John McMillan | I believe insurance companies need to begin to acknowledge that helping people to keep their BG as close to non-diabetic levels is in their best financial interests, as well as the best health interests of the diabetics themselves.
Help us to keep ourselves healthy. | PA | The Mega Life and Health Insurance Company |
| 2383 | Nancy Picket | Wondering why the insurance companies are not looking at the problem of hypoglycemic unawareness. Very frightening to wake up in the back of an ambulance & not know how you got there. Maybe they are waiting for more auto accidents where hypoglycemic unawareness caused accidents & killed innocent people. | WI | Blue Cross/ Blue Shield of Illinois |
| 2384 | Steven Polikoff | I believe a CGM will help me control my type I diabetes and thus delay or eliminate any future complications from the disease. | NY | Empire BCBS |

| 2388 | John Ciot | I am a "brittle" diabetic and CGMS therapy would greatly help me take better control of my life. | MI | Blue Cross/Blue Shield of Michigan |
| 2389 | Anonymous | The authority of the FDA to move a medical drug or device from "PMA" status to "Approved" status is established by law, and these insurance companies should be penalized for this abusive, monstrous fraud.
I hope that significant punitive damages are involved in such a judgement. | NV | Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield (Nevada) |

| 2395 | T. Michelin | MI | BCBS Michigan FEP |
| 2396 | Anonymous | OH | Aetna |
| 2397 | Lauren Beste | BCBS denied my request for CGM during pregnancy despite strong recommendations from my perinatologist and endocrinologist. I had immaculate pre-conception glucose control and aggressive reduction of my insulin pump rates during early pregnancy, and I still ended up with severe and recurrent nocturnal hypoglycemia to the 30s-40s in my first trimester. I know this placed my health (and therefore that of my fetus) in danger. Insurance companies should be ashamed of themselves for endangering pregnant women and innocent babies! | RI | BCBS of Rhode Island |
| 2398 | Kathleen King | OR | N/A |
| 2399 | Wendy Hill | The continuous glucose monitoring system (hereinafter CGMS) has been found to be an effective tool to detect impending hypoglycemia and hyperglycemia in patients before a crisis situation occurs. This technology is available today and has the ability to increase the quality of life of patients with diabetes. Every patient and physician team should have the ability to determine which persons are most likely to benefit from the use of the latest technology. I implore you to cease denying coverage for financial reasons under the guise that CGMS is "experimental". CGMS is no longer experimental and has received FDA approval after extensive research on the products.
I am signing my name, providing my email address, providing comments regarding why I support this petition and am also indicating in which state I reside. As a person who has been refused access, I am also indicating which insurance company has unfairly denied me the coverage for this life saving tool for treatment of my diabetes.
Even if I have not been directly affected by diabetes or CGMS denial, I am signing this petition as an indication of my support for patients with diabetes to be given the opportunity through insurance coverage, to improve the quality of their lives with CGMS technology.
My grandaughter in only 9 years old and has diabetes. I want every opportunity to be available to her that is possible!
You should not deprive diabetics with ANY opportunity that can improve their quality of life. No matter how big or small it may seem to you as an insurance company. | NY | Any insurance company that would deny coverage.. |
| 2400 | Sara Eriksen | My husband and my daughter are both Type 1 Diabetics. Having a CGM for them would be a TREMENDOUS help in controlling their "ups and downs". I hate having them "chase" their blood sugars". | OR |
