| 57 | Anonymous | I must say that I have been driving for 21 years and have never gotten a ticket UNTIL TODAY. And my chances are higher for getting a ticket because of the amount of driving I have to do for work. Anyway, today a police officer on a motorcycle did a U-turn (where you can't U-turn) to pull me over this morning. When I asked him why he said because I have tinted windows. He gave me a fix it ticket. I have 20% on my rear window and 60% on front windows. I also have a brow that is 20% and is above my mirror, so it's really not that noticable. As soon as he handed me my ticket I questioned him about the 4-6 cars that just drove by with darker windows than mine. He commented that there are more of us than the 30 Police Officres in that section of town... Then I just had to say.. "So, if there are only 30 PO's shouldn't you be spending your time more wisely?" He said have a nice day then walked off. |
| 58 | Ron Balch | My wife just got one of these fix-it tickets to have the tint removed. She has melanoma skin cancer so blocking as much sun as possible is crucial for her. My thoughts on this was that the officer saw the car when he was on the other side of the highway, then had to finish giving the ticket to that person, then turn around and catch up to her. That means in my estimation that he had to be going at 80 or 90 mph to catch her. Nice way to put others lives at risk to catch someone with window tint. I would also think that cops would have better things to do nowadays than chasing down window tint violators. |

They say it helps an officer so they can see the driver and passenger, but if that's the case then why allow tint in the back windshield or sides windows if i was a cop i would like to know whats going on in the back of the car more then in the front, a person could be a threat in the back of the car just as while as a person in the front. My point is an officer is never going to be safe pulling someone over, and making this law is not fair to the other people who don't have bad intentions of having tint. We shouldn't suffer for other peoples mistakes. And if that's the case officers shouldn't have tint on their cars as well no double standards. |

It is disgusting that our tax dollars pay for the Highway Patrol to harass citizens instead of doing their job and protecting the community from real threats. |

I never speed and I am always paying attention. However, I think it is horrible to expect me to drive 4 hours in 110 degree heat with the sun melting my left arm.

| 84 | Tony | Got pulled over for 35% window tint on the front windows. I have had them for 4 years and have been "next" to many Police on the road and never pulled over once. I was pulled over by a young CHP, that i guess needed something to do. I was driving an SUV with tinted windows in the back, which he should be worried more than me in the front. Also, how many judges, officers, lawers, sport players have tint, posibly even this officers boss and yet they stop you. this officer and/or officers know it is out their and many people in high ranks have them... Get this, i have complained about speeders on my stree to our local PD, along with some neighbors, nothing has been done in the last year, except a speed monitor, but yet i get a tint fix it ticket. I guess if they have time or some child gets hit they will look into it, until then we will give inocent people window fix it tickets!!! |

I am a LACO Firefighter, and he said some bullshit abouthe tickets all officers & Firemen the same. I told him, that I'll just get it fixed and re-tint them. | 90 | Jason Pannell | We need to save our eyes and our skin. UV radiation causes damage every second we are out in it. For some of us we spend much time in a vehicle. UV radiation leads to vision loss, Thymine Dimers( DNA mutations leading to cancer) and wrinkles. Not to mention the health risks of being in a vehicle that is in the excess of 140 degrees F. Reduction of these temps also reduces use of air conditioning, leading to an increse in fuel economy which leads to less fuel used and of course with that less needed and less CO2 gas being produced.... lessening the impact on global warming. |

They don't make a dime--the city or county they write the ticket in gets the dough. Second, the tint-law has nothing to do with a cop being able to see vehicle occupants. Read the vehicle code, and you'll see that the tint law has to do with limiting night-time visibility. Third, you whiners that want tint on you side-windows to block the sun better realize that your windshield lets in a lot of light, too! Fourth, you whine about the police goving after "real crimes." Last time I checked, as much as you disagree with it, tint is illegal according to the Vehicle Code. You violate the law, you pay a price. Officers are sworn to uphold THE LAW, not just "real crmies." Besides, let's see you go find a murderer/robber/rapist every single day. If you're that good at it, I'd love to have you as an officer protecting me. You're a bunch of crying jackasses who don't know the law or anything about the police. Get some sunglasses and where a long-sleeve shirt if you're than terrified of the sun.
Furthermore, people with real reasons to have tint are allowed to have it under the California Vehicle Code--something you'd know if you had a justifiable reason to put it on your cars! |
