The petition

In the 1970's a decision was made to spilt Middlesbrough in two with a massive dual carraigeway - the A66!

Why?

Middlesbrough may have need a dual carraigway, but did it need it right through the centre of town?!?

As cities like Boston in the USA realised what a nightmare this was, Middlesbrough went on to be blighted in the 1980's by a ugly road that went straight through the heart of the town, bringing cars and pollution straight into the centre of the town, as well as destroying some lovely buildings in the process ! Why, when it could have been diverted or buried as a tunnel when it was built?

Things have now moved on, city planning now takes into account, pedestrians, cyclists and the general environment and not justs cars and trucks!

As Middlesbrough town centre is revitalised and improved isn't it time we got rid of the A66!
